MODERN MONOTONE
A New Take On The Little Black Dress. Forest Green.
I’ve never been one to wear all that much black. I get it’s a classic, minimal and chic tone, but i’ve always been drawn to navy’s, forest greens, burgundy’s and all those ‘off black’ shades and as such my wardrobe is quite the concoction of colours (usually dark, earthy and muted tones, versus pastels and vibrant shades). But despite the lack of head to toe black in my wardrobe, i’m all for a monotone outfit combination and todays all green look is case in point.
I fell in love with this wacky cactus style dress the moment I saw it on the H&M website. The oversized loose fit, combined with the earthy green colour and of course the textured tassles all over it meant it was mine from the get go. I think in truth I probably shouldn’t have sized up as it’s quite the sack on me (it’s actually a tent like shape), but nonetheless I love it styled up with my green blazer & boots (both old Zara buys) for a very new take on monotone and alternative fail safe to the little black dress.

I’m not really one for super dressy occasion wear, and i’ certainly not one to have ever planned an outfit in advance, much to most my pals annoyance I’m sure. I’m very much a last minute and ‘throw it on and see how it turns out’ kinda girl. I’ve turned up to a wedding having thrown on a trusty Reiss number I rely on for special occasions only to realise I’d forgot to have it dry cleaned since the last event … I’m that kind of unprepared!!
And that’s where a dress like this comes into play, easy to style up or down, easy to throw on and style with little fuss & a dress you always feel comfortable wearing as it’s just loose fitting & unbelievably concealing. I like to have a few numbers like this I can rely on in my wardrobe … those day to night dresses you can turn to time and time again!
It may not be the little black dress, but i’m coveting a new take on monotone!

Ok. I have a similar bag and boots. Now, all I need is a dress, a coat and a red lipstick to look this hot. :)
