When you feel like giving up …
It’s funny really. Being driven: working yourself so hard, working your ass off. At some point you kind of come to expect some reward. In the blogging world that’s page views, followers, business opportunities … It’s not that it’s your core reason for working, but it’s the reward and motivation to keep going. If I’m honest I feel like more often than not I work overly hard on my blog but in reality get little in return for my efforts, my daily blog features that I’ve been creating for nearly 5 years and the time and energy I put into this website.
Yes it’s self depreciating and negative but it’s just how I feel. Most the time I channel this feeling into positive plans of action, in fact it’s where most my blog tips are born from. A process to help me, that I share with you. But the reality is I feel disappointed, disheartened and demotivated. Never in 5 years have I felt like giving up on my blog, until today.
Whether it’s because I know what’s possible and what others are achieving, or because I have a drive to always be better. I don’t know. But regardless it leaves me wondering what’s wrong with me, why is my blog not good enough, why am I not good enough? Maybe my work isn’t good enough? I don’t know… I feel like I work so hard, yet my goals and ambitions feel so far away. I feel sad that I haven’t benefited from the luxury and luck of a big boost like others sometimes get. I wonder why my efforts haven’t delivered more …
Am i alone?

No no no. Remember that while you’re feeling like this, somebody else is envying what you have! Keep doing what you do; I for one enjoy it very much.

Girlfriend, you are NOT alone. I have felt like that several times throughout the past year with my blog, and as I get ready to migrate over to WordPress, I’m still questioning if it’s worth it or if it will make a difference. We, as bloggers, work so hard, so I think it’s only natural that we want something in return at some point. If it means anything, I recently discovered your blog through another fellow blogger, and you’ve been a great resource and inspiration!

You’re far from alone. In all honesty, I started my blog to have an extra outlet and then when I realized what was popular I changed a little bit and I hated that change. However, I took a couple of weeks off and rediscovered the type of person I was to be, or better yet perceive and that really helped mean, just shutting off for a little bit and forgetting about the popular world.

Sorry to read that you feel this way… You’re definitely not alone as I feel this way more often than not… I don’t know which good advice to give you but to keep on pushing forward and compare your “wins” from this day with the “wins” from the past and see how far you’ve come and “won” up until now.
Sometimes lots of hard work doesn’t land on the most fruitful ground… Sometimes, you need more luck and some other “figures” in order for your work to get recognition that it deserves and most of the time you do affect how things are rolling and so on, but at times… There’s nothing that you can do or affect with your own efforts…
Good luck!

Don’t give up! With everything like social media it’s so easy to compare yourself to other bloggers, but you’re your own person and can’t be compared. I love your blog and all the tips you share are so useful to me, and I’m sure to many others too. Just keep going :) x

Think about it from a different perspective: would you feel the same doing another job? Chances are, you would, because most of jobs have way more downs that they have ups. At the end of the day it is the ups that matter – but if you think like you can feel satisfied and even the ups are not up enough, maybe you’r just pushing forward the wrong thing.
(I do love your blog though! Don’t get me wrong. I just think feeling like you’re achieving something is a very important thing in life)

You can’t give up! I recently just stumbled on your blog and I have been engrossed in your posts. I gave you a shout out today on my blog linkup party. Your work is inspirational and it stands out in a sea of monotony. Just wanted to let you know I think you are fabulous!

I agree. After 5 years or so of growing my blog and social media accounts I just don’t feel like I get anywhere and when I see campaigns using other bloggers (same ones all the time!) it becomes disheartening. It would be amazing to see a brand pick up say 10 bloggers who are just cool, funny, normal (not this glossy image we are seeing ALL THE TIME!) as bloggers to watch. Your blog is wonderful! Keep at it, we all have phases like this.
