Any Old Excuse …
I can never resist an excuse to buy a new dress, my latest ‘must have new dress’ moments were the recent Media Week awards, a friends birthday meal, Bonfire night… and now I am thinking that I should probably get a couple of new dresses before party season hits ;) Like I said, any excuse.Today whilst I was ‘passing by’ Topshop, I came across this AMAZING dress. I am most definitely going back to buy this baroque body con dress, I absolutely love it and think it’s perfect for Christmas party season. It would look fab teamed with black ankle boot heels and some chunky gold earring’s!I want, I want, I want -
Chanel My Love
Everyone knows fashion week is extravagant, A list, and somewhat awe inspiring. But this year there was one brand that rocked the fashion world to another level.Karl Lagerfield put Chanel at the top of the Christmas tree. Paris fashion week didn’t just have your usual glamorous cat walk with contemporary vibes and modern DJ’s, oh no! Mr Lagerfield only went and hired one of the most well established female architects, renowned for her evocative forms and designs within the architectural world, Zaha Hadid.Chanel and Hadid transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a nautical dream for the 2012 spring / summer women’s collection. The Chanel ocean odyssey was full of dramatic white creatures and oversized sea coral which the flow of gorgeous models strutted their way through. To top it all off the amazing Florence and the Machine was there to perform … in a giant seashell.Surreal, yes … but Hadid and Lagerfield sure are visionary genius. If only I could have been there in real life to experience the dream like show! -
I wants, DO get …
From top left, Topshop leather Bag, £30. Topshop Peter Pan collared dress, £50. Topshop knitted Thanx Jumper, £46. Miss Selfridge Winter print dress, petite £29.New in: I love these goodies from Topshop & Miss Selfridge! The leather bag is gorgeous and I love the cream peter pan collar dress. As we hit winter, I must admit I am a HUGE fan of the good old Christmas knit patterns so I love this Miss Selfridge winter style dress. Annoyingly it only comes in petite right now, so unless your 5ft .. it looks like a top. DAMN, they do have a few similar ones in stock though for us normal heighted people. And finally, you can’t go wrong with a cute wooly knit jumper, this one is really sweet and I love that it’s cream! I think if it was long enough it would look awesome with a good pair of faux leather trousers and black heels. oooh, now thats an idea. -
I Heart Mulberry
One thing you’ll come to discover is that I have a severe addiction to hand bags … namely Mulberry!
I currently have 5 in my collection, the Bayswater in Charcoal, Emmy in Black, a mini patent pink handbag (courtesy of my lovely boyfriend), the new Holly Small Zip around purse in pink, and a 2009 tan satchel (the first of my collection thanks to my Daddy) …. oh and a passport holder (does that count?).
I follow their line closely, and absolutely adore some of the new designs. The Bayswater Satchel, Oversize Taylor and the Holly are 3 of my favorites from the new AW11 collection.
I must say however, I am not such a fan of the Alexa. Mulberry has always been noted for their British Heritage, classic designs and use of fabulous leather. So I was slightly disappointed this summer when they released the Alexa, to me this was a blip in their otherwise perfect handbag ranges.
The Alexa was released at a time when Mulberry was becoming more mainstream, many celebs and IT girls were seen sporting the latest designs and helped notch Mulberry to that next level in Fashion hierarchy … which without doubt was well deserved and great for Mulberry. HOWEVER, their reaction to release a new model, named after a current fashionista, was only the start of why I do not and will not EVER rate this bag. My main dislike was the leather. The leather used on the Alexa bag was noticeably thin, a significant step away from their classic Darwin leather totes and seemed to me a cheap cop out to jump on the celebrity it list band wagon. The bag has since been released in a wide range of hideous and tacky colours and patterns and frustratingly is now one of Mulberry’s most well known and lusted after bags. WHY?
Having said that, and despite the Alexa blip, I still love Mulbery, and along with Chanel they are still my absolute favorite Brand! So onwards and upwards, below are the bags I am going to be saving for this Christmas…
The Mulberry Taylor – without doubt going to be Mulberry’s next big hit in the fashion world
The Mulberry Holly – I’m gunning for the tan version. Gorgeous teamed with your vintage riding leather boots and skinny jeans, not forgetting the chic Blazer and silk top underneath.
What do you think? Usually around November Mulberry will host the most unmissable sample sale on Bond street where you can have the chance to buy the latest collection at a more than reasonable 50% discount. YES PLEASE.
