    . PART II .

Today’s post is short and sweet as i’ve been busy celebrating my birthday with my friends at my annual BBQ, which fortunately was able to go ahead as the sun just about broke through the cloud cover. I’ve had another fabulous day & got spoilt yet again.
Tomorrow the birthday fiesta is over (sob) … and i’ll be back in full blogging swing.

    . BIRTHDAY GIRL .

    . ASOS Trousers . Topshop Sweater . Zara Coat & Moccasins .

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, oh and probably every post for the last week (or two) today is my birthday. Ive had a fabulous time celebrating with my family and Jase so far with a lovely dinner at Bluebirds last night and today spent in Duck & Waffles tasting all the delicacies. Tonight will be spent all cosy chez moi having a casual ‘party tee’ and drinking some vino. TOmorrow i’ll be heading back to Winchester for an all day BBQ with my friends, it’s an annual thing and my favourite excuse to all get together.
Todays outfit featured a couple of newbies which i’m just absolutely loving right now. My new Zara pink jacket which you may have spotted on instagram already & my new cigarette trousers from ASOS, adding to my previous collection of one (my Topshop satin trousers).
Stay tuned for the full outfit post shortly …

    . REISS LEATHER MINI .

Well following on from yesterdays ode to leather skirts, I thought i’d indulge in yet another ode today. This time featuring my Reiss leather mini skirt which I treated myself to a couple of weeks ago. By far the most beautiful skirt I own and worth every penny of the price tag. I’ve featured this a couple of times already in various winter styled looks, but today I thought i’d share a more spring vibe & also the outfit i’m wearing au jour dui for my pre birthday evening of celebrations.
. Reiss Aline Leather Mini Skirt £175 . ASOS Tee . Missguided Croc Bag .

Tomorrow is my 26th birthday and for some reason i’m overly excited at the prospect of it. I think it’s partly linked to the bank holiday weekend and well needed time off work, the excuse to go to some seriously swanky places to celebrate & generally the excitement of presents & fun that comes with a birthday. I’m also rather excited at the prospect of treating myself to a Phillip Lim bag, with birthday money from Jase going towards it. I’ve been lusting after the Pashli for a few months now, and probably spurred on by stress and the need to treat myself, i decided that for my birthday I would buy myself said bag. A special treat. I’m desperately after the feather version which seemingly is out of stock across the entire globe (no jokes) so I think i’ll go a little bit seasonal and instead treat myself to the medium pashli in cloud.
Anyway, in my typical fashion, i’m extending my birthday into a 4 day extravaganza, starting tonight with dinner at Bluebird with Jase and my dad. I’m heading out post work, so am sporting my typical ‘transitional’ look. Today said look is my favourite leather mini teamed with a simple tee, and for work tights & boots, but for tonight a simple outfit upgrade featuring my ASOS hocus heels.

    . ZARA LEATHER MINI .

If you caught my blog on Monday (if you didn’t you can check it out here), you’ll have noticed a new little leather mini got an outfit debut. Said leather mini was a gem I picked up in Zara last week and a garment which immediately caught my eye. I’ve been a fan of leather minis forever and a day, and so far have managed to generate quite the collection. My latest additions are worlds apart in price tag (My £175 Reiss skirt Vs. £25.99 Zara skirt) but also pretty different in colour too.
My Reiss skirt was a step change in colour for me versus my usual black leather version, but the terracotta leather just drew me in instantly and the same thing happened with this white leather skirt too. The colours just work so well on the leather and help create (in my opinion) a far more versatile and wearable leather mini. The black leather mini is a classic, and I could say no wrong about it (i have about 5 variations for goodness sake) but a black leather skirt does have a time and a place, and neither that place nor time is very Spring Summer day time related. My new ‘colourful’ leather skirts were made for Spring, bare legs, casual tee’s and loafers or stilleto’s structured coats & clutch bags, they’d work styled both ways, but the benefit is you have the option.
I’ll be in no way forgetting my black leather skirts, but for this upcoming season, i’ll most definitely be getting a lot of wear out of my new colourful versions.
Are you a fan of white leather? Do you own any ‘colourful’ leather mini skirts?

    . PASTEL PINK .

I love having sisters, not merely because they are my best friends and we get on so well, but also because we can share clothes (which clearly is a big perk). This works both ways, me mostly borrowing their new treats when i’m back home and me handing down lots of my clothes to my sisters in return for them taking pictures for my blog :) Not a bad business model.
. Zara Jacket & Boots . French Connection Trousers . Marc Jacobs Sunnies .

Today’s outfit post summarises just that … Harriett took these fab snaps for me whilst we were out for lunch in Winchester with my Nan. Not only did she do me a huge favour, but I also have to credit her wardrobe for part of my look. This pastel pink Zara jacket, which I am head over heels with, was a new purchase Harriett picked up whilst we were shopping a few months back. We have very similar taste so we both instantly loved it. The jacket is so perfect for Spring Summer & such a cute addition to any outfit that I couldn’t help but steal it for the day. I paid her back for the pictures and jacket loaning with a little lunch treat & a few goody bags of clothes for her to dig into!
I love this jacket so much I’ve actually added it to my birthday wish list, although sadly I think i’m far too late to the party as it seems to be totally sold out. I may try and blackmail my sister into a little swapsie … i’m not sure how that will go down.
I teamed my sisters jacket with my French Connection leopard trousers, my Zara pink boots (which were definitely made to be worn with this jacket – swoon) and a simple cami top. The finishing touch was my Marc Jacobs sunnies, with Spring establishing itself, sunnies are fast becoming an essential accessory not to leave the house without.

What do you think of my Sisters Zara jacket? Do you have siblings or friends that you share clothes with?

. ZARA WHITE LEATHER SKIRT .

I’m not sure what’s happened to me this month, but my previously restrained conspicuous consumption has failed miraculously and in the last 3 weeks I seem to have spent a small fortune and revamped my wardrobe (most unnecessarily I should add). The problem is that I keep finding things I love & just cannot be without (ahem).
. Zara Leather mini £29.99 . Zara Green Coat . Miss Selfridge Peep Toe Shoes . Topshop Breton Tee .
. Some of my new purchases below .

I’d already splurged a fair bit prior to my ski trip, my new Reiss Skirt, my Topshop satin trousers & leather tee, my Whistles skinnies and now a whole lot more. Not only have I made a cheeky ASOS order (cue cigarette trousers, a camel mac & a PU leather mini – stay tuned) I also popped to Zara after work on Friday and worked myself up a triple figure bill treating myself to this incredible two piece & the leather mini featured in todays outfit post.
I’m not sure what’s going on, serious retail therapy to help fight my stress levels right now or the fact that the high street is bossing out incredible spring garments at the speed of light (or most likely a blend of both), but either way, i’ve got some beautiful new spring clothes which I just can’t wait to wear!

What do you think of all my new Spring ‘investment pieces’? Are you a fan of the leather mini?
  • SPRING BLING

    SPRING BLING

    . MARC JACOBS SS14 .

I mentioned in my outfit post on Monday (catch it here) that a little spring accessorising goes a long way in transforming an outfit into a Spring ready look. Whether you’re accessorising with strappy sandals, colourful clutch bags or bold and bright jewellery, a little accessorising can really make a look seasonal. This new Marc Jacobs watch is my new Spring bling.

This Marc Jacobs watch is a new number from the SS14 collection which Selfridges is selling. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with the two brands to support the Spring collection and this Marc Jacobs watch was a favourite of mine from the range due to the almost sunshine colour gold & the feminine cut of the watch strap and face.I am a huge fan of chunky watches and this is reflected in my Michael Kors, Daniel Wellington and Anthropologie watches which i’ve invested in over the years. This spring I was ready for something a little more summery and different … I’ve never really worn a pure gold watch (My Michael Kors watch is the closest being a tortoise shell and gold mix) and given we’re heading into the sunshine season, I thought a gold watch would be the perfect summer accessory. The watch is also a tad more delicate than others I have or in the range, and I liked the slightly more feminine way it looks.

Are you a fan of Marc Jacobs watches? How will you be upgrading your Spring accessories this season?

    FINDERS KEEPERS

. SPRING CLEAR OUT & INVESTMENT PIECES .

As you may well have gathered by the fact I write a daily style blog, I like my clothes. Having a blog about clothes has its advantages and disadvantages when it comes to clothes and shopping. On the plus I have a reasonably legitimate excuse for treating myself to ungodly amounts of clothes (it’s a small business, I need to invest in clothes to keep things fresh & interesting etc etc – AHEM), secondly I am fortunate enough to get to work with some fabulous brands who gift items which only adds to my never ending hoard of clothes.

On the disadvantages, I continuously create illegitimate excuses which support my ungodly investment in clothes (aka as above: ‘it’s a small business, I need to invest in clothes to keep things fresh & interesting etc etc’), secondly couple my purchases with the items i’m so gratefully gifted, my wardrobe (bomb site?) can become a little overcrowded (to say the least). This not only leads to inner panic with the control freak inside me but it also leads to one increasingly disgruntled boyfriend who’s 20% of all wardrobe storage continues to diminish.

The logical solution … have regular clear outs and sell my clothes? Correct, only problem is i’m a tad sentimental & a bit of a hoarder (inherited directly from mummy dearest). My next best solution for the last few years (despite knowing I could have made a few bob) has been to give bags of clothes to my mum and sisters – there’s something easier in knowing that the item i’ve not worn in 5 years is only a few miles away, should I ever want to wear it again! That is until now … i’ve decided it’s time to bite the bullet and take a more pragmatic approach to my clothing situation. My solution is two fold, 1. Invest more, less often (my shops of late are Whistles & Reiss), 2. Sell / Give away any items that I haven’t worn recently or that I have similar items to. Whilst I always let my mum and sisters have dibs (pay back for the pictures I force them into taking when I go home) I’m now going to make a more conscious effort to sell some items on the cheap to you lovely readers!! This is where Vinted.co.uk comes in, it’s a site much like Ebay in design, but dedicated to fashionista’s looking to sell or buy clothes and accessories more specifiically … therefore leading to less time shuffling through pages of car tyres, electronics & home goods, more time browsing fashionable goodies!!

I am selling 10 of my items of clothing on my very own vinted profile – you can check it out here, make sure you stay tuned to check out the bits i’m selling. Anyone can join Vinted and it is genuinely super quick and easy to set up (linking direct to Facebook to fill in all the mandatories), it also links to blogs & social channels which is another fab way to build your blogging network and community! I’ve downloaded the mobile app (they have an android version too) to upload my items for sale, again so easy, literally taking a snap and uploading the info within a few mins. It’s all too good to be true right? Well there is one disadvantage, everyone else is selling such fab bits you can’t help but by some seriously good gems too (Charlotte from the Fashion Guitar’s wardrobe is currently filling up my ‘favourites’ list) ;)

One in, One out. Ah well … it’s all for the ‘business’ right?

  • YOU GIVE ME BUTTERFLIES

    YOU GIVE ME BUTTERFLIES

    . LASHES OF LONDON .

Todays post, in the spirit of my up coming Birthday and of course the fact that it’s Friday, is a rather glam Spring party look. The dress is something i’ve featured a couple of times before in various other outfit posts, but today is a lone garment, doing the speaking for itself!
. Lashes of London Embellished dress . ASOS Hocus Heels . Mulberry Satchel .

Spring party wear is a funny old challenge, it’s the balance of dressing up and looking glam versus keeping things not to OTT and of course staying warm. Every year (bar one) my birthday somehow manages to hone in all the sunshine to create a glorious and hot day, this gives me a little more license with my birthday suit dressing. This year i’m going to be hosting my yearly summer BBQ on the Saturday afternoon, it’s not an overly dressy occasion, so i’ll be using the Friday night of my birthday to get dolled up and this Lashes of London dress is one of my runners for the outfit pour le jour. My other contender is a far more relaxed but hopefully still chic look featuring my satin trousers (which I featured here) & a chic camisole top!

What would you wear for a Birthday dinner out? A glamorous dress or an understated trouser look?
