. AN OUTFIT FOR AFTERNOON TEA .

As promised in yesterdays blog post, today’s post is my outfit from my afternoon tea out with the girls this weekend. Going out with the girls is always a fab excuse to get dressed up and wear some of my new purchases.

. Zara White Leather Skirt £29.99 & Pink Jacket £79.99 . Daniel Wellington Watch . KG Serpent Boots £150 .

The weather wasn’t fully on our side at the weekend, summer sunshine with spring showers, but what more could we expect in April right? I wanted to wear some of my new spring purchases like my Zara white skirt and pink jacket but had to style them up for colder weather with tights and a pair of boots. It’s not the typical pairing you’d make for these items, but I actually think it worked quite well and actually dressed down the skirt for afternoon tea.
I roped Kat into taking my pictures for me and I couldn’t help but giggle at how funny we must have looked outside Limewood House posing for blog pictures and getting totally blown away by the wind.
What do you think of my look from the day?

. AFTERNOON TEA AT LIMEWOOD HOUSE – NEW FOREST .

It’s been a while since I did a true lifestyle feature and so todays post is a little refreshing. This weekend I headed back home to Winchester to spend the weekend with the girls for mon bon ami ‘Crumpets‘ anniversaire. We had a lovely afternoon tea out in Limewood House in the New Forest and todays post is my fave pics from our day (which ended more like this at 1am).

We had such a lovely day, from consuming 50 thousand sandwiches through to polishing a few bottles of vin rouge and dancing to Beyonce in the early hours, it’s always great to spend time at home and quality time with your girls. One things for sure, the stress of the last month felt a million miles away which is surely what it’s all about. I’ve dropped a sneak peak of my outfit in here at the end, but stay tuned this week as I’ll do a proper outfit post on my look from the day this week … the pictures are rather funny (that’s what happens when you rope your friends into taking cringey outfit pictures) including multiple pictures of me getting windswept & in fits of laughter.

What have you been up to this weekend? Do you enjoy lifestyle posts like these on my blog?
  • WISH WANT WEAR

    WISH WANT WEAR

    . SPRING SHOPPING .

One thing is for certain, as soon as I have a little bit (or a lot) of stress in my life, I like to indulge in a little bit (or a lot) of retail therapy. Each to their own, but for me, shopping just takes the edge off things. It takes my mind away from busy work demands, the pressure and the stress, and for a few blissful hours reverts joyfully to the more menial worries in life such as debating which colour looks best, arguing how many pairs can I legitimately allow myself to buy, and of course worrying that it’ll go out of stock right that instance if I don’t buy it. Oh the woes.

Shopping is my go to, both online and offline. This week alone i’ve racked up a few deliveries some treats to me from me, others exciting gifts from lovely brands (more to come on those). I’ve spent my Saturday morning ordering up a storm on ASOS and adding to my never ending wish list on pinterest. But with all the frivolous window / reality shopping, I do also like to find myself a bargain too. Whist i’m totally au fait with a car boot, it’s not often I make it down to one. So i’ve been spending more time searching the net for bargains, and that includes on sites like Vinted.co.uk … whose whole premise is about swapping and selling clothing items. Second hand (sometimes never worn) gems at a bargain price.

I’ve been using Vinted for about a month now, both selling my clothes which you should head over and check out here, but also nabbing myself some bargains (and also creating a wish list for those incredible designer gems which I can’t quite justify the splurge on … Hello Alexander Wang Boots & YSL Clutches).  I found some gorgeous court shoes & summer sandals which i’m going to purchase this week.

It’s what I like to call responsible shopping. Selling off my unloved items, splurging on some new luxury bits, and bargain hunting for a few old gems.

    . BUSY BEE .

This weeks been pretty unbelievable, i’m not even sure how i’ve managed to blog an outfit every day being honest, i’ve been getting home from work at 1030pm and working into the early hours before hitting the door at 7am again. I’m not sure i’ve ever needed a weekend so badly … thank goodness it’s filled with afternoon tea and undoubtefly a lot of sleep (and some fab new pampering products which I got for my birthday too).
I’ve blogged a ton of outfits in the last couple of weeks, so make sure you check them all out here in case you missed any! Which was your favourite?

  • RIPPED JEANS

    RIPPED JEANS

    . WHISTLES RIPPED JEANS .

I featured my Whistles jeans for the first time a few weeks back in a Spring Transitional post (catch it here if you missed it), but since purchasing these bad boys I’ve not stopped wearing them. They are quite literally the best fitting jeans I think I’ve probably ever bought and I absolutely love the ripped knees. It’s actually the first time i’ve ever embraced the trend and am kicking myself for not jumping on the bandwagon sooner.

. Whistles Ripped Jeans £95 . Topshop Reptile Sweater . Accessorize Fedora . Zara Pink Ankle Boots .

My favourite thing about these jeans is that they’re actually quite smart despite being ripped at the knee, giving me a ton more occasions (and excuses) to wear them , not just a laid back weekend look. For the bank holiday weekend and a fiesta of birthday celebrations I wore them styled with my white reptile sweater from Topshop, my accessorize fedora & my pastel pink Zara ankle boots. The look was pretty simple, but I loved the combination of colours.

Have you got a favourite brand for Jeans? What do you think of this simple look?

  • CAPTAIN ROADIE

    CAPTAIN ROADIE

. WILDFOX CAPTAIN ROADIE SWEATER .

When it come to summer dressing & giving an outfit a little bit of oomph, Wildfox is the brand to do the job. This Captain roadie sweater is absolute perfection for chilled days lounging in the sun, strolling along the beach and keeping cosy at a BBQ party. As soon as I put it on I felt like relocating to California.

    . Wildfox Captain Roadie Sweater £175 ℅ . Zara White Mini £25.99 . Daniel Footwear Loafers £135 .

I love the print on this Wildfox sweater, it’s slightly different to their infamous Lennon sweater which I do love too, but the cute captain print drew me in straight away and won me over. I kept the styling simple, after all Captain Roadie does all the talking in this look. I popped the sweater on top of my new Zara white mini & teamed the duo with my white leather loafers from Daniel Footwear. I just need to swap the London back drop for Orange County and i’m all set for a wild beach filled summer.

Are you a fan of the bold and fun Wildfox prints? What;s your favourite sweater in the collection?

  • PINK TWO PIECE

    PINK TWO PIECE

    . ZARA PINK SKIRT & JACKET .

Well you’ve seen the pink jacket already in my birthday post, but if you are clever enough to follow me on instagram then you may have noticed this dreamy pink jacket was actually part of a two piece which I teased you with here.
From the moment I spied these two beauties on the Zara website I started imaging myself as Lady Penelope come Elle Woods, rocking a pink two piece was my new life ambition. Channeling my inner Elle Woods was to become the perfect way to power dress for Spring and there’s no denying when popping this outfit on, I had an inner surge of girl power and confidence.
I was spurred on to buy the dream duo by the lovely folk over at BBB & Bwin who encouraged me to showcase what I get up to whilst Jase is glued to the football on a Saturday … Given i’m a style blogger it doesn’t take a genius to guess what I get up to during this 90 minutes of hell … Shopping ‘with my ladies (hashtag LIVE)’! A shopping session resulting in the investment of a pink two piece seemed the most pertinent contradiction to a typical lads saturday afternoon don’t you agree.
Stay tuned to see the full outfit feature shortly … i’m in love.
  • COLOURFUL COATS

    COLOURFUL COATS

. BRIGHT GREEN ZARA COAT .

Well colourful coats seem to be a bit of a reoccurring theme on my blog don’t they? I’ve featured a series of bright coloured summer coats on my blog over the last few weeks (well, years). There’s a simple reason for it, i’m addicted.  When sunshine beams and the city warms up, there’s nothing more uplifting than sporting some brightly coloured clothes to channel that summer vibe and energy.
. Zara Green Coat (old) .  ASOS Trousers £25 . Topshop Breton Tee (old) . Daniel Footwear Loafers £100 .

Bold and bright coats are a favourite seasonal accessory of mine, it’s all about the printed fur or bright seasonal duffles in Autumn – Winter, as Winter passes it’s the transition into pastel blue duster coats and bright pink straight coats (all hail Reiss) in early Spring. Come Spring/Summer, it’s all about the bright and light summer jackets, think this pastel pink drape neck coat and this gorgeous green crew neck coat (which I bought and featured a lot last year).

I love an outer layer and so am gradually building up a collection of summer jackets, naturally I have a  denim and some leather jackets awaiting the summer too, but there’s nothing like some chic and slightly smarter summer coats for dressing up an outfit. My new Zara pink one which I featured earlier in the week is a new addition, but this bold green coat was a firm favourite from last season which I still love a year on.

I styled my jacket with my new ASOS cigarette trousers & a simple breton tee, finished with my reptile loafers from Daniel Footwear. A perfect laid back weekend look if you ask me.

What are your favourite jackets for Spring Summer?

  • ECLIPSE

    ECLIPSE

    . GHD ECLIPSE STYLER .

I bought my first pair of GHD’s about 5 years ago, and up until this point they’ve served me well and helped transfer unruly hair into something far more tamed & styled. As sad as it is to admit, it’s hard to imagine life without a pair of GHD’s. As Aussie called it, ‘There’s more to life than hair, but it’s a good place to start’ and a good set of hair styling tools is an essential part of that hair styling process.

    . GHD Eclipse Styler £145 .

I treated myself to the white GHD’s when I first moved to London and as with most stylers, you don’t tend to invest in new variations of the product unless yours breaks. However i’ve been fortunate enough to get the opportunity to try out GHD’s new ‘Eclipse Styler’ which is their latest product range designed specifically to style unruly hair quicker and with less heat (185 degrees). A rather helpful notion when you also sport bleached blonde locks, anything to help save my hair from more damage is worth a try (all hail Moroccan oil).
I’ve been using these new styling tongs for a few months now and am currently in ‘adaption mode’. As you can see from the images, they’re a lot larger than the usual GHD straighter and definitely a step up the design steaks (you push a button which makes a noise and lights up the GHD logo – flash). For straightening they’re a big improvement on my old GHD’s (which in fairness are a bit tired now), they certainly straighten my hair a lot quicker and effectively tackle a large chunk of hair in one stroke (opposed to 4 or 5) which is so handy.
Aside from straightening my hair (which I revert to out of default when I don’t have time to do anything more), I also like to curl my hair when I have a little more ‘me time’ to play with. I have naturally curly hair but I prefer to use straighteners to create a more perfect curl look. Sadly over the last 2 years I seemed to have drastically lost my hair curling technique (sob) so I have been determined since receiving my new flash straighteners (Stylers) to learn the technique again and sport my curly locks more often (as I prefer my hair this way).
I’ve already been curling my hair a ton more since I got the eclipse styler (you may have noticed in my recent outfit posts) and given all the fancy technology it does help help with styling, the plates glide through my hair more easily and keep my hair looking glossy and not totally dried out. I’m still trying to perfect my technique, especially as the new Eclipse styler is larger so takes a bit of adjusting to.
I’d love to hear your tips for curling hair with straighteners and hear what products you use?
