Winter Warmers

I’m pretty proud of myself, on the 31st October i’ll have been writing my blog for an entire year. It’s quite bonkers, most my family and friends thought it’d be another of my fads which I obsess over and then quite quickly lose interest. But oh no, I’ve fallen in love with blogging and have thoroughly loved it ever since I wrote my first post on that day. So much so that I’ve never, not once, missed a day of posting a blog.
That’s not to say that it’s no easy feat, I’ve put a lot of time and energy into my blog, and it’s taken a lot of dedication and effort to ensure that I put a new post up every day. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t want to, but it’s certainly not been easy.
One of the questions i’m quite frequently asked is ‘how do you do it?’, this is mainly in relation to my outfit posts, which is what 99% of my blog is based on. I have a full time career in advertising, i’m an account director in a big London agency, working in comms strategy & media planning on one of the UK’s biggest clients. I work long tiring hours & my job is a huge part of my life. So juggling time to take pictures and write posts is something that takes a fair bit of commitment.
So my secret? Early mornings & late nights. Before I go to work in the morning I snap pictures of my outfit that day, using my tripod and timer. I’ve managed to get this down to a 10 minute sprint and usually do this around 730/8pm before dashing for the tube. When I get home at night around 8pm, I chill out for a bit and then when I’m tucked up in bed I edit my snaps and set up my blog posts. I tend to write them pretty quickly /easily either the night before or when I get a chance the day I’m posting it.
My other blogging moments are the weekends when I try to snap my outfit for each day, and also any new pretty outfits which I’ve been saving to wear or am styling for an evening out. Each weekend I look to snap a minimum of 2 outfits, and If I’ve got lot’s on I will try to take about 4 (e.g. my outfits for day & night). On a Sunday i’ll try and prep as much as I can so that my week ahead is in a good place – just in case I get a really hectic week and not much time to snap outfits.
So there you go, that’s my secrets shared :) I thought i’d tell you about it in this post, as this outfit was yesterdays work outfit. I opted for a casual look as I was feeling a little tired and wanted a nice cosy jumper on. My dad helped me out with these pics whilst I was guzzling down my tea & just before I ran out the door to get into town for a 9am meeting.
Now on to the important stuff – the outfit. My jumper is from French Connection (I believe it was last summer I picked this up). I styled this super casually with my burgundy Topshop jeans & some golden oldie wedges. I do have a terribly huge shoe collection, and I always like to mix them up and make sure I get lot’s of wear out of them all. These were a New Look leather pair which I picked up a year or two ago. I still love them as much today as I did back then. To finish the look I added my new H&M fur stole which I’ve been living in since I bought it last weekend. It keeps my neck nice and warm and it’s just so cosy.

    I ve been taking my photos in my lunch breaks when I go hom to walk the dog. Plus I photograph several outfits on a weekend that i plan to wear the following week – helps me plan my weeks wardrobe too x

    I LOVE this outfit!!! Definitely something I would wear!! :P I didn’t realise you had such a tough job in Landan Town, I innocently thought all you did was blogging as you’re always popping up on my twitter feed with anothre post!! LOL!! :P Now I know the truth! that’s proper dedication! I only tend to blog when I feel I have something of interest to say and I have the time! I like to go into our lounge and get all cosy in the single chair with something on the telly…..then I can blog to my heart’s content!!!! :) xoxoxoxoxo

    So impressed with how you manage to blog every single day! Because I work shifts I have to work taking outfit posts around them. So if I start at 7am I take photos when I get home after 3pm, whereas if I don’t start until 1.30pm I have to take them before.

    I love the color of those jeans but i am in love with those amazing brogue wedges!!!

    as for routines having kids i found some days i couldn’t stick to it, so i plan ahead of time (usually a week) a rough idea of what i will post about and keep them in drafs. I tend to write impulsively but i enjoy it more than planning ahead theres more passion in it i find
