AUTUMNS TRENCH

August 13, 2014

. ZARA TRENCH COAT .

Well I talked about investment pieces and my quest for a capsule wardrobe yesterday, but it’s made rather tricky when i’m constantly coming across incredible high street pieces which i just ‘have to have’ in my wardrobe. My latest shopping spree is proof of that, a new playsuit, a new fedora, a new bag & of course this new trench. The problem with a capsule wardrobe is it means turning down incredible items like this … and that would be just ridiculous to even contemplate.

. ZARA TRENCH COAT £79.99 . WHISTLES JEANS £95 . ZARA PUMPS £79.99 .
. CELINE NANO . TOPSHOP SHIRT £35 . DANIEL WELLINGTON £169 .

Given this trench coat is absolutely perfect, I think it’s fair enough I broke my (attempt at a) ‘less is more’ mantra to buy it. Right? I don’t own a trench coat, and it’s irrelevant that I have an entire cupboard full of other outerwear garments (40 odd coats by now) already. It’s definitely my kinda trench, slightly oversized, strong collar & buckled cuffs, it’s got a couple of details which make it slightly more exciting than a simple (plain) trench. I ordered it online (seriously, this is my weakness, I have no control when it comes to buying in ‘pretend’ online money) but was super happy with my frivolous decision when it arrived this week. And given the weather has taken a bit of a turn for the worst, it was clearly a superb decision all round.
I teamed the trench with my Whistles ripped skinny jeans & my oversized white Topshop shirt this weekend for a day out exploring all the west has to offer (hello Westbourne Grove & Jeremy Piven – we spotted him whilst indulging in cake and gin cocktails in Granger & Co). My sac du jour was of course my Nano & I opted for my Zara patent pumps on the footwear front, I love how they look teamed with a pair of skinny jeans.
Do you approve of my new trench coat indulgence? Are you a trench coat wearer, how do you style yours?

Trenches are great in the warmer autumn months, but I love warm jackets and then big furry warm coats in the winter :)
