MUSTARD YELLOW

August 20, 2014

. HOW TO WEAR YELLOW .

Yellow isn’t a colour I sport that often, come to think of it, I can’t really picture any yellow items in my closet. How negligent of me. It’s not that I don’t like the colour, I love it in fact (sunshine, sunflowers, ice lollies) but it’s just not a colour that I ever seem to pick out when shopping or a colour I really know how to wear. Perhaps because there just aren’t that many fab yellow clothes for sale, until of course, i came across this super chic mustard yellow summer coat from New Look.

. NEWLOOK YELLOW COAT £29.99 ℅ . FIFTH LABEL PLAYSUIT . ZARA PUMPS . RAYBAN CLUBMASTER .

The cut and the colour combined stole my heart & so this be the one that changed my non-yellow ways. As much as I like the coat, I have to admit working what to wear it with did throw up a whole load of colour coordination challenges for me (and I’m still only learning, colour coordination has never been my forte). But I decided on Navy, right or wrong, I wanted to team the jacket with my new Fifth Label playsuit (which i’ve now pinned at the back to cover my modesty a little). My Navy Zara patent pumps worked perfectly with the duo and so they came along for the ride too. Overall I was actually quite impressed how the yellow worked with it all, now it’s time to test it with a denim jean look or even a more autumnal dress and boots combo.

Are you a fan of yellow? Do you approve of my attempts at colour coordination? How would you style this coat?

Lovely coat – I’m always wary of yellow – I think it makes me look paler!

Such a wearable coat even though it’s bright yellow! Could also work as a autumn/spring coat with jeans and a plain dark coloured top! I absolutely love adding a pop of colour to an outfit like this! Your styling is spot on!

I don’t think yellow suits me, but I wear it anyway because I love it so much! It goes really well with the rest of your outfit so I reckon you made a good decision!
