LACE EDGES

September 23, 2014

. SUGARHILL SIENNA SHORTS .

One of the things I quite like about the seasons changing is the opportunity to mix my summer wardrobe with my cosy winter pieces. Plus of course the age old excuse of needing to buy a few new seasonal pieces. As i’ve mentioned previously, I don’t separate my wardrobe season on season, I actually mix and match pieces all year round which I prefer to do, I fear boxing up my winter wardrobe will just make me forget half the things I own & also feel like ‘old’ clothes unpacking them again a year later. But it’s always nice when the weather changes and I get to style my items a little differently & bring out some of my favourites which it’s just been either too hot or cold to wear previously.

. SUGARHILL BOUTIQUE SIENNA SHORTS . ZARA HEELED BOOTS . CELINE NANO . ASOS FEDORA .

These shorts were new this September and an absolute perfect pairing – they fit perfectly, they’re the exact design i’d been dreaming of & they’re extremely comfortable. But of course they came a little late for summer (albeit they’ll definitely be coming to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with me when I jet off in November) … but fear not. This is where my non seasonal wardrobe comes into play. Mixing summer garments with my winter favourites to make them wearable for the transitional months like October.
I teamed my shorts the other weekend with my sisters old burgundy knit jumper from Zara (a true golden oldie we both own in different colours). The knit made the shorts wearable for the slightly nippier weather & actually created a cool dressed down styling too. I finished the look with my new Zara open back ankle boots which i’m just loving right now (another item which works in both summer and winter), my ASOS fedora & my little Nano.

Are you a seasonal shopper or do you like to mix and match your wardrobe all year round? What are your tricks for transitional dressing?

I am loving the lace edges trends at the moment. The perfect softening of winter jumpers whilst it’s still not quite winter.
