THE TRANSITION BACK

November 11, 2014

. ASOS CIGARETTE TROUSERS .

So whilst my style ambition during my winter sun getaway was about making the most of my summer wardrobe, one last time before the wooly knits and teddy coats come (back) out to play, i’ve actually come home thinking a little differently. I’ve got the summer bug again now and I don’t want to chuck my favourite summer garments into the depths of my wardrobe, nor do i want to hide my little tan I miraculously now have in November (once agin these pics were captured early on, pre tan, so don’t go judging), so now i’m thinking about my favourite outfits from the last few weeks and wondering how I could tweak them for the UK climate.

. ASOS CREPE NAVY TROUSERS . TOPSHOP WHITE SHIRT . BIRKENSTOCK ARIZONA . CELINE NANO .
Take this look for example, a mix of ultra laid back vibes which a rather finished and androgynous undertone. This sort of outfit is a favourite of mine, easy to wear, but looks great despite the minimal effort. This outfit isn’t one I want to hideaway until next April (not least because the ASOS trousers are a new purchase which I got delivered pre holibobs). But the great thing about this kind of look is that it’s relatively easy to transition into a slightly more winter weather suitable look. For example, swap the trusty summer birks for a pair of chic pointed loafers, ditch the light weight floaty shirt for a structured heavier weight cotton number, and finish off with a fabulous teddy coat opposed to sunnies & maybe even add a tartan knitted scarf for good measure. And voila. The same look suitable for Winter, with just a few minor adjustments! That’s my back to work outfit sorted then …
How are you transitioning your favourite looks from late Summer / Autumn, into these wintery days we’re now facing in the UK!

This outfit is the perfect transitional piece, wearable in warm weather but also like you said, layered up and winter-ised. I think having more shirts in my wardrobe would really make dressing easier, effortlessly cool but also really versatile.
