THE END OF SUMMER

October 18, 2015

. THE END OF SUMMER : MUSINGS .

Summer has been gone quicker than I ever remember it before. Perhaps it was the 14 hour days at work, and lack of daylight hours I got to enjoy, perhaps it was just a chilly summer, but either way, when my holiday to Turkey finally arrived last week, I couldn’t have been more in need of a rest, some sunshine and an opportunity to catch up on my sleep. A little R&R time for myself, to feel human again. As always with these types of breaks away, I spent my days reading all my favourite authors new novels which I had been piling up awaiting time to read them (I thoroughly recommend Jojo Moyes After You & The Girl You Left Behind – brilliant reads), sleeping like a baby at night after a hearty turkish dinner, and enjoying the oozing serotonin and sunshine in the days … until the sun set and it was time to grab a little cocktail, wrap up warm and watch another day shrink away.

Aside from catching up on some well needed rest, I also took the opportunity to shoot some looks for my blog, brain storm ideas & spend a little time plotting and planning what’s next for mediamarmalade.com … simple things that have been such a struggle to manage over the last few months.

As well as my three outfit posts which I shared last week (catch them here, here & here if you missed them), I also shot another final beach look on the last day which I’ll be sharing tomorrow. But after this it’s fair to say summer is over … it’s time to pack up my bikinis, my denim cut offs & my much loved panama, and begin unpacking cosy knits, the dreaded tights & my new winter ankle boots for the chillier climates to come.

Whilst i’m sad to see summer pass, I’ve got a few more travels in the pipeline to look forward to, a little trip to Norway next month and a rather exciting break in New York in December … it’ll be my fourth trip to the city, and it continues to be my favourite city. I can’t wait to return, to indulge in the last of Black Friday bargains, visit my favourite haunts, make base at Soho House New York, and venture across the water to Brooklyn & Williamsburg for the first time.

I’ll miss the sunshine and beautiful lit skies of turkey, but am already making the most of the warm autumnal sunshine (one of my favourite lightings to shoot blog photos in) and looking forward to Halloween and the festive period to kick in, to decorate the tree & wrap up for cosy Christmas market strolls, and eat too many Bratwursts and mulled wines on the way … as usual.

I do love winter really …

Oh Norway. The destination right on top of my travel wishlist. I live in a tropical country so cooler months tend to intrugue us more! Have a great trip dear, can’t wait to see your Norway and NYC posts :)
