THREE MORE REASONS …
After my post this Sunday taking a positive approach to blog success and sharing why I believe your blog will succeed, I thought I’d finish off the mini series with three more reasons to add to the pack.
As I mentioned in my last post on the topic and in all my blogging tips posts, I really truly believe there is no right or wrong to blogging, it’s about finding your grove, your niche and staying true to your passions, personality and brand. Whist there’s certainly things to learn from everyone else out there, integrity is what makes the blogging industry so successful (whatever blog success even means).
So today I’m sharing three more thoughts and reasons why I believe your blog will be a success …
THREE MORE REASONS YOUR BLOG WILL BE A SUCCESS
#1 QUALITY IS YOUR GAME
I’ve spent the last 4 and a half years debating the quality over quantity strategy with myself. Me, I try and deliver on both (as well as a full time career too). It’s probably a little too much and so I’m still thinking about reducing the volume of posts I create on mediamarmalade to focus on upping my quality and giving each of my editorials a little more air time.
But regardless of whether I post 3 times a week or 7 times a week, my focus is always on producing quality editorial which inspires or informs, that features inspiring & enjoyable imagery (that are all my own), content that I’m passionate about & generally a space which reflects the quality content I want to produce. If there came a day where I had nothing to say (heaven forbid) … I simply wouldn’t force myself to post.
Focusing on quality sometimes means compromise and sacrifice. But it’s knowing that whatever content you’re putting out there is something your proud of, it has your love and effort put into it, it’s something you’ve written because it means something to you, and it’s something you would want to read! The brilliant bonus of blogging is that people out there resonate and want to read it.
There really is no right or wrong to quality content. It’s all based on you, and your idea of quality.
#2 ORIGINAL CREATIVITY
Noun: the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.
Creativity … original creativity is what shines through in a blog and what makes it unique, different and personal. The moment you see that title & click to read, the original thinking, creativity and ideas shine through. Creativity can take many different guises, from the content ideas, to the way you showcase your content. The point is originality. Inventiveness. The use of imagination or original ideas to create something. Plagiarism gets you nowhere in this industry!
#3 YOU GET TECH
Of course a successful blog isn’t just about great and original editorial and imagery (although mastering this does make a huge impact), but it’s also a fully functioning behind the scenes. Having a website design that reflects your content and your brand (your personality), having a website that works across devices so no matter where people are coming from they can read your content with ease, a loading time which doesn’t induce sleep, learning a little about SEO so you’re pushing your content as far as you can, an easily navigable design so old content isn’t lost in a black hole.
Most importantly it’s about having a set up and a site that reflects you, your brand and your content. Don’t just copy something you’ve seen elsewhere, create your own space, define your own rules, and play your own game.
Do you agree with these points? I’d love to hear your thoughts on blogging and what you think defines your own success?
