FUN IDEAS FOR SUMMER DAYS OUT

July 21, 2016

Schools out for summer …

So it’s officially summer, the Suns finally arrived in the UK, the schools have broken up and I’ve jetted out of the country for two weeks of R&R in sunny Cyprus (bad timing with the school holidays, doh).

A two week holiday is my absolute dream, anything less feels too short, but two weeks is just the perfect amount of time to get some colour, destress and make a home somewhere slightly more exotic than normal. My agenda for the next two weeks consists of nothing more than an hourly rotation on my pool sun bed and copious amounts of delicious Cypriot cuisine. Having said that it’s fair to say switching off isn’t really my forte and so already I’ve found myself scoping out outfit photo back drops, planning editorial features and generally spending some time getting ahead on mediamarmalade (including working on something pretty exciting for August). But regardless of if you’re travelling abroad or not, there’s plenty of fun to be had this summer and one of my favourite activities in the summer has to be taking a little road trip to explore a little more of the UK.

FUN IDEAS FOR SUMMER DAYS OUT

Take a roadtrip somewhere new

Its always good to explore what’s on your doorstep, and summer weekends are the ultimate time to do it. Brighton, The Cotswolds, Cornwall & even the Lake District are all worth an adventure. The key is to make the most of the weekend & make a mini break of it. Even better what  about grabbing your bike, cycling out to the country or a quiet park and indulging in the ultimate British picnic. Pimms, an M&S spread & just a good book. I live right near Richmond park and its the perfect place to while away a Sunday.

Throw a garden party

Ah I’m already excited at the thought of this. One Saturday dedicate the day to creating the ultimate garden party, invite all your favourite pals, create a cocktail drinks trolley, and decorate your outdoor space to your hearts content. There’s no harm in pretending your in a Moroccan riad sex & the city style.

Play tourist

How often do you find yourself walking past British tourist attractions but never making the effort to actually enjoy them for yourself; Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, Summerset House, The Tate … Plan a day of being a tourist and you’ll be surprised how much fun you’ll have. Jase and i actually bought the ‘London villages’ book and often use that as a guide for things to do and places to explore.

SHOP WHAT I’M WEARING

. ZARA MAXI DRESS (SIMILAR & SIMILAR) . CHLOE HAYLEY . TOYSHOP SANDALS . KAREN WALKER SUNNIES . REISS STRAW HAT .

My sister and I shot these pictures before I left for my holidays whilst I was back home in Hampshire, we love to head out in my little beetle, roof down, sunnies on, whether it’s for a bite to eat in Winchester or a trip to Mudeford (my favourite place to escape to on the weekend). When I’m back from Cyprus a mini break in Brighton & a weekend in the Cotswolds is high on my agenda. They’re so close in reality but can feel like the ultimate mini break when you do it properly.

What have you got planned for the Summer this year? Are you one for a Summer weekend adventure?

Haven’t been around your blog for a while, but I’m always so amazed by the beauty of your photos and cleanliness of everything on your site. Love these ideas! Because it’s 110+ degrees fahrenheit where I live in the US, our goal is to do everything INDOORS haha, but I love the ideas for when it cools down again ;) xx Adaleta Avdic
