Brighten Your Day & Add A Pop Of Colour To Your Outfit.
Let’s talk about yellow. A colour associated with sunshine, happiness and positivity, yet a colour I personally rarely wear (or in fact see others wearing). In all honest I feel a little sorry for yellow, the underdog in the fashion world and a colour that can easily be laughed or guffawed at on first thoughts … But I think it’s about time we have yellow a little break.
Adding a pop of colour to my look is something I’ve been doing for many a year, subconcsciouly of course, consciously I’m forever trying to channel my inner Scandi, yet despite my attempts at minimalist styling and the odd question of Swedish roots (I wish), it’s fair to say my style always reverts back to it’s feminine, preppy and colourful beginnings … and this look sums it up entirely.
You see, whilst an all monochrome look is something I admire whole heartedly and the fact my wardrobe is largely made up of varying shades of blue, it seems the lure of adding a pop of colour to my wardrobe and attires is something I can’t escape. But you know what, I love to see a little colour, it adds a little more story, a little more something, perhaps personality to a look. And so today in honour of the widely understated colour yellow, here I am rocking a bright yellow, sunshine like, suede skirt.

I’m not a newbie to yellow I hasten to add, I’ve been an allie to yellow for a few years (you may remember these yellow culottes from a few years back (always ahead of the curve, ahem). A skirt I obsessed about when the suede mini became a thing, but one I so rarely forget to give a runaround. But before escaping to full blow summer in Cyprus (holiday pics coming soon I promise), I decided to give the yellow number a little run around. Teamed with a trusty J Crew navy sweater and as always a summer straw hat.
The skirts adds a subtle pop, just like a pretty bouquet adds a pop of colour to your lounge. But it doesn’t have to be an item of clothing, your bag, shoes, jacket and even the addition of a neckerchief or scarf can add a simple burst of colour to your look, without the need to brave a full ensemble.
Are you a fan of colour? How about yellow? What do you think of this pop of colour?

I love this pop of color, it’s good to see you take a fashion “risk” by wearing an understated color :). I tend to buy dark colors when I shop for clothes or accessories, but you just reminded me that adding some bright color to an outfit is the way to go. X

I find yellow one of the hardest colours to pop into my clothes – it looks so intense in comparison to red or green!
