Simple Ways To Upgrade Your Favourite Denim Jean Outfits
I love a good denim ensemble, the effortless nature of throwing on a pair of jeans and a casual tee or more office appropriate shirt is something I find myself relying on more often than not lately. It’s that go to solution when that summer dress makes you feel obese or you’re simply too tired to think about colour coordination. But that being said, and as effortless and chic as a denim ensemble can be, sometimes it needs that little vavavoom to make it feel a little more special or even, smarter.
Having a few simple tricks up your sleeve to easily upgrade an otherwise basic denim look is essential for not only the fashionistas out there (god I hate that word), and today I thought i’d share a few of my favourite styling trips that I use to help me upgrade my classic denim ensemble … kicking off with a little sparkly outer wear.
HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR CLASSIC DENIM LOOK
Eye Catching Outerwear
Whether it’s a Burberry esque parka in winter, a chic leather jacket in Spring, or a sparkly cropped number like this Zara number in Summer, adding a little ‘eye catching’ outerwear to your denim look can really step change an otherwise basic look. My go to outer wear styles definitely fall into the aforementioned, and for summer I really like to push the boundaries a little, whether it’s with bold embroidery, a pop of colour or something a little more luxe or capsule. This Zara embroidered jacket was something I picked up this summer and a number that immediately transformed an otherwise very basic look.
The Killer Shoe
If you’ve visited my style inspiration board on Pinterest then you will know full well how much I adore a boyfriend jean teamed with a chic and juxtaposing stiletto shoe. There’s something so entirely cool about the whole combination and it’s a trend I openly admit I try to emulate within my own wardrobe. There’s no denying the addition of a killer shoe can totally upgrade a denim look from day to night, from basic to chic and from casual to dressy. Equally a luxe loafer can give the same affect.
Seasonal Accessories
And finally, the simplest trick in my style book, and one i’m sure you’re already totally au fait with, the seasonal accessory. Summer calls for straw hats & summer sunnies, this Spring’s been all about the bohemian neckerchief & Gucci inspired loafer and winter’s all about multiple layers and cosy knitwear. Not to mention, the all round accessory, the (designer) sac du jour. A handbag is almost always my go to accessory of choice to add a little something extra to any look i’m sporting. Whilst i’m certainly a designer coveter in the hand bag space (for me it’s an investment & the ultimate reward for a job well done), you don’t have to invest a fortune to find a quality bag that adds a little something special to your ensemble.
WHAT I’M WEARING
. FRENCH CONNECTION EMBROIDERED JACKET (SIMILAR) . TOPSHOP WHITE BLOUSE . WHISTLES DROP HEM JEANS . NEW LOOK ESPADRILLES . CHLOE HAYLEY . KAREN WALKER SUNGLASSES .
What are your go to styling tips for your staple jean outfits? Are you a fan of the statement jacket or the killer heel? For me it’s all about adding a couple of key statement items to really step change the look … for whatever occasion, season or event you’re dressing for.

Awesome tips and that jacket is just so lovely – I hate casual Fridays at the office because it’s just so tricky to get right sometimes!

My go-to styling tip for jeans would be a great bra and a t-shirt. Maybe even a t-shirt bra. Something that will be comfy all day and offer me maximum support. :)
