A SUMMER LOVE AFFAIR
Embracing Seasons & My Light Weight Summer Wardrobe
Truth be told I love all our seasons, the magic of Autumn, the excitement of spring, the cosyness of winter and the pure joy of summer. We’re lucky in the UK to have seasons, but it’s fair to say that in years gone by our summer and winter have been poor excuses for what typically they should be – mild summers, rainy winters and little to get excited about. But this year something drastic has happened, our seasons have pulled their socks up and delivered on all our expectations … if not exceeded them. A proper snowy winter, and 30 degree summers. Yes the nation has been in shock, but surely this is what it should have been like all these years.
Whilst twitter has gone into melt down over the heat, literally and metaphorically, I am all for it. I have a tan from literally living in the UK. I’m happy. Excited. I look forward to waking up each day and getting out the house. I am trying to spend as much time outdoors as physically possible. My wardrobe is full of linen. I’ve ditched the jacket all together. I’m eating alfresco 90% of the time. I really truly couldn’t be happier. And it’s not just about the summer, I loved the winter too. If you’re going to have 70% darkness and chilly temperatures we may as well get to freezing and line the streets with snow right?
There’s no complaints this end about the summer heat wave and the winter freeze , i’m embracing it and loving every minute.

>One thing I especially love about proper seasons is being able to truly embrace seasonal dressing. My summer wardrobe is in full swing and not simply reserved for my two week summer holiday in Greece. I’ve been investing in as much linen and strappy garments as possible to maximize tanning potential but equally ‘cool’ potential too (cool as in airy, not street wise – obviously). check my shop page for a few of my recent buys.
I’ve naturally been orientating towards midi skirts most days, but i’m trying to break that habit by throwing in some culottes and summer trousers into the mix too. Especially for work where wearing the same mango strappy dress everyday is more scrutinized haha. You know the one.
These jigsaw culottes were actually an end of winter / early spring buy and I’ve been meaning to share them with you for ages but just haven’t got around to writing the post – terrible – but seeing as we’re now in peak summer I thought i’d show you how i’m wearing them right now instead. There’s something about khaki and off white linen that just screams summer to me.

Linen is so vital in summer for staying comfortable. I can’t believe I’m missing this UK heatwave but I can imagine it’s awesome but I’d hate being on the tube haha

I feel like Melbourne is similar to the U.K., so I completely get your need to dress for the seasons! I feel like Autumn + Spring are perfect to get the best of both worlds in terms of fashion, though I love Summer more than anything.
