    . FUR JACKET & SWING DRESS .

Todays outfit features a couple of newbies that I am super excited about. Firstly an amazing gift from Liza (my dad’s partner) who surprised me with this incredible vintage fur coat last month (SERIOUSLY CHUFFED) and secondly this glam little number from Free People.
    . Vintage Faux Fur Jacket . Free People Swing Dress £228 c/o . Pull & Bear Boots £69.99 . Mulberry Clutch .
Liza came came across this beautiful faux fur coat in a charity shop in the Cotswolds (Charity shops in this area of the UK are a real treasure chest for finding bargain luxury or designer pieces) and instantly thought of me and bought me it as a little treat (such a lovely surprise). It was so thoughtful and I literally love it so much, it couldn’t be more perfect for me. I’ve been wearing it loads and love how glam it looks and feels.
The jacket looks perfect with my new embellished dress from Free People which feels equally as glam and sophisticated. I’m a big fan of embellishment (as you may have gathered following my blog post dedicated to it) and this dress has the perfect balance of glitzy details but chic design. It’s a 60’s dream (drop back, swing cut & strappy shoulders) and works perfectly with my new jacket. I finished the look with my Pull & Bear heeled booties & my Mulberry Willow clutch … perfect for a dinner or theatre date don’t you think?
Are you a fan of thrifting? What gems have you found in your local vintage or charity shops? What do you think of this 60’s inspired look?

    . PINK SUEDE BOOTS .

A couple of weekends ago my sister came to visit Jase and I in London for a few days and so I decided to plan a fun filled weekend of activities. One of which was another stop on my ‘london villages’ quest (did you see my Hampstead trip?), this time to East London. Unfortunately, despite the rave reviews, the day ended up being a bit of a flop – tubes weren’t working, replacement buses, pouring down with rain, 3 hours of unanticipated walking … you get the gist.

    . Reiss Coat £295 . Zara Boots £89.99 . Topshop Knit £46 . James Jeans £190 .

If there’s a silver lining, it’s that I managed to get a few snaps of my look from the day which included my new pink booties. I’ve refrained from posting this look for a while as I wasn’t too sure of the photos (I was rather windswept) but hey ho. This was the first time I wore my new pink suede boots which I treated myself to in Zara (Zara’s shoes are becoming a real obsession of mine lately) a month or so ago, the pointed toe and pastel pink combined was too much for me to resist. The rest of the outfit was super laid back and my pink coat finished the look & worked with the shoes perfectly.

What do you think of these pastel pink booties? Outrageous or perfect for SS14?

    . L’OCCITANE .

After being spoilt rotten with L’Occitane goodies this Christmas from my dad and his girlfriend (I featured them in my Christmas gift haul), i’ve only gone and been spoilt again with some more treats by L’Occitane themselves.
In honour of the new product range, I’m currently spoiling myself (and finally giving my body a well due moisturise) with these gorgeous smelling L’Occitane Shea butter moisturisers. The ‘Ultra Soft Body Cream Trio‘ is a new limited edition product sku from L’Occitane and perfect for getting you in the mood for spring. The trio each have a unique smell (vanilla, rose and lime), the vanilla is unsurprisingly my favourite (I love everything vanilla) and each has a bespoke bold colour tin (the pinks is my fave). I personally love L’Occitane and have my bathroom filled with their body moisturisers, bath gels & bubbles and hand moisturisers, so these 3 spring coloured goodies make a fab addition. You can buy them individually for £18 a pot or the trio for £42. L’Occitane isn’t a cheap brand, but boy is it worth the pennies, especially as a present for someone else or for yourself. I use a lot of their products already (some of them featured above) and love the smells, how soft it makes your skin & the chic parisian packaging. If i’m ever in Paris I top up on the well loved hand moisturiser too, i’m currently using the amande flavour – i love it.

Are you a fan of L’Occitane? Have you tried and loved any of their ranges, what’s your favourite products?

. MOCK REPTILE PATENT LEATHER .

Over the last week you may have noticed an overload of mock reptile & patent leather on mediamarmalade.com. It would appear that i’ve become a little bit obsessed with this texture & style of leather and am sporting it via my new Zara Moccasins, my KG serpent booties & this bargain Missguided clutch.

. BABY BLUE BOYFRIEND COAT .

This weekend was all about my new baby blue coat, I got it in the post on Valentines day and have ended up wearing it every day since. On Sunday Jase and I took a little trip into Winchester to meet some friends for lunch, I roped him into taking some pictures for me whilst we were there. I love Winchester & the old town makes for a great back drop.
    . Kurt Geiger Serpent Boots £150 . Topshop Skirt . Missguided Boyfriend Coat £59.99 c/o . Whistles Cobalt Jumper £85 .

My outfit for the day was a little more glam than my usual Sunday attire, but the lunch date & my new coat spurred me on to look nice. I teamed up my Topshop navy snakeskin leather skirt with my new Whistles cobalt blue jumper, my new Missgudied baby blue coat and my serpent ankle boots (which i’ve also not stopped wearing since I bought them a week or so ago).
Despite the terrible weather we’ve experienced here in the UK over the last few months, Spring is starting to feel a bit closer. We’ve had a couple of glimpses of clear blue skies (a miracle) and it’s inspired me to boost my outfits with a pop of colour. I think cobalt blue & pastel pink are going to be key colours in my wardrobe this Spring.

What do you think of this colour pop outfit? Are you a fan of my new items? How would you style up this baby blue boyfriend coat?

It’s been a while since I did an outfit inspiration post, but since it’s LFW & spring is starting to feel a little closer, I thought it was the right time to look at the key pieces and looks I’ll be styling up this Spring and those items that are already top of my wishlist. It seems like M&S had the same idea too as they invited me to check out their new collection (and their Vogue EDIT which you can check out here) & pick some of my favourite items from their Edit to style up.
I had some clear favourites from their new stock, continuing my unjustifiable coat spree I fell instantly in love with this ‘cream single breasted notch lapel coat‘ – seriously chic and a great colour to take into spring. I also fell desperately in love with the ‘2 Zip Bouclé Mini Skirt with Wool’ the colour is beautiful and i’m loving the wool texture right now, my final two picks from the edit were this cute grey marl  drop waist tshirt dress & red western ankle boots, I love how laid back and easily styled these items are. Perfect for lazy spring weekends seeing friends.
I styled my picks up with some key accessories and items which i’m wishing for this Spring. Tops of my list being the seriously coveted Phillip Lim 3.1 Pashli bag (swoon) & anything Saint Laurent, I seem to want all their collection!

What do you think of my three looks & the items i’ve picked from the new M&S range? What are you coveting for Spring 2014?

    MY OWN SOMERSET HOUSE

    . MINT OVERSIZED COAT .

This weekend I debuted a new coat of mine (yes another), sadly this wasn’t at London Fashion Week, as despite being a Londoner I coincidentally fled the city for a weekend in the countryside back home in Winchester. Ironic, sure.
This new coat was a Valentines present from the lovely team over at Misguided, spoilt rotten right? I’ve become a little coat obsessed this season, it’s a new thing for me and I seem to be building up an enviable collection (even If i do say so myself). Jase is reaching the end of his tether rapidly as the coat closet is effectively a sartorial bomb. What can I say, there are lots of occasions for which one requires a different outerwear garment. The mint blue colour teamed with the knee length cut made this coat a winner for me.

I teamed my new coat up with a couple of other new items on Saturday, my KG serpent boots which I finally treated myself to (if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll know I was eyeing these up for weeks) & this cute mock croc bag which was a bargain £14 from Missguided. The final piece was this very old Zara skirt which I customised in the summer (I dropped the hem), it’s a real oldie but a total favourite of mine. The blue embroidery went perfect with the mint blue fur look coat.

LFW is a funny time of year for me, instead of feeling mass excitement about the upcoming shows & Somerset House street style it actually kinda makes me feel down on myself. Not to turn this into a sob story, but having a full time career which is unrelated to fashion does mean I don’t get to spend my days wistfully walking around Somerset House snapping fabulous street style, and potentially even be snapped myself (if my look was worthy of course). I don’t have the time to source out tickets for shows & attend all the wonderful fashion events i’m invited to … and as a result I always feel a little bit like I miss out on the fun and games & somewhat important exposure that the season brings to individual bloggers. I find myself following the street style posts & watching previously ‘small’ or local bloggers grow into international superstars attending the hottest shows, hanging out with ‘famous’ fashion bloggers & sporting the latest Chanel Boy bag (which was probably gifted) … and it does make you feel a little jealous but most worryingly – hard on myself that I haven’t achieved the same success. That’s the disadvantage of being a perfectionist … always striving to be the best, but sometimes forgetting & not crediting how far you’ve even come.

Anyway, enough of that. What do you think of this spring colour palette &  my new coat & boots? Have you headed down to Fashion Week?
  • LFW SPORTS LUXE

    LFW SPORTS LUXE

    . SPORTS LUXE .

So in Yesterdays postI touched on sports luxe, probably for the first time on my blog, and after claiming that sports luxe is something I’m just not cool enough to pull off I decided to eat my hat & give it a go regardless. Inspired by my reptile Daniel Wellington slips on and these awesome new running leggings from Sweaty Betty.
. Sweaty Betty Running Trousers £90 ℅ . Daniel Footwear Slip ons £100 ℅ . Topshop Fur Coat (old) .
When Sweaty Betty challenged me with styling up an item from their collection for LFW I was rather daunted by the challenge (as we’ve clarified, sports luxe styling isn’t something i’m naturally au fait with). But as a huge fan of the brand, a sports luxe styling novice & a human in dire need of doing some exercise, I thought it was a good challenge to take on. I picked these running leggings from the collection (I love them, and instantly want to sign up to pilates) & decided to style them with my new slip on trainers (the perfect sporty duo right?). The final touch, to make this look LFW worthy was my old Topshop dalmatian print coat, I thought i’d add a bit of my staple style to the look & a bit of glam (and warmth) to the outfit. If I was a total pro I’d probably have gone for an oversized knit jumper or a leather sweater, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
The disadvantage of working full time is that I really have to maximise my time at the weekend to take outfit posts, come rain or shine (can you see the rain in the pictures?). As a daily blogger with a full time career I don’t have the benefit of holding out until the weathers good to snap my look or grabbing some pictures whilst i’m out and about in London for work, I used to take some of my pictures with my tripod/remote prior to going to work at 7am, but after a while I decided the puffy look & sleepy face really wasn’t working. So now it’s all about the weekends to make sure i’m picturing my outfits for the blog. As a result I can become disproportiantley pissed off when wind or rain ruins my shoot (see here & here for some ‘funny’ out takes).
What do you think of my first attempt at sports luxe? How would you style these sweaty betty running trousers?
