BIKER GIRL
. BLACK ON BLACK .
I’m actually quite good at adding colour into my looks, I love a vibrant or pastel colour & always think they compliment my blonde hair, but every now and then I get the urge to channel an (nearly) all black outfit. There’s nothing like the simplicity that black (and white) brings to an outfit & the chic look it creates. I’ve started to wear a lot more black lately & this is 90% of the time in the form of my leather skirts and ankle boots.. French Connection Sweater . H&M Leather Skirt . Zara Patent Moccasin . Mulberry Holly . Warehouse Suede Biker .As you will very well know, or have probably noticed, my typical uniform is a feminine cut leather skirt (usually pencil or mini) styled with either a simple fitted tee or a cosy oversized jumper. I can’t help but feel comfortable in this kind of outfit & I love that it’s suitable for work, evening and weekend which is really important to me.I wore this outfit to work last week & it was the first outing of my new French Connection jumper which I picked up in the sale a couple of weekends ago. I’d been eyeing up the French Connection sweaters for some time, but after seeing this cropped version reduced to a bargain cost of £20 I decided there was no excuses not to embrace it. The material is super soft & the greyish white sweater gives a cool sports luxe edge to my leather skirt look. I finished the look with my Zara leather moccasin’s which i’ve got SO much wear out of since I bought them, my Warehouse suede biker jacket which I picked up in the sale a couple of years ago (its one of my most cosy coats) & finally my Mulberry Holly bag which I’ve not featured on the blog in a while. I’ve you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll know I have a rather overzealous Mulberry collection & love the brand. What’s your typical uniform? Do you have styles or items that you instantly feel drawn to wear? -
#JOHNLEWISEDIT
. THE EDIT .
Last week I was fortunate enough to work with John Lewis on their up and coming campaign ‘The Edit’. Myself & a couple of other lovely bloggers were invited for a champagne toasted evening at a Shoreditch studio to browse through their SS14 Edit & pick 3 outfits to style up & have photographed. Our 3 looks will form part of the digital and social campaign for John Lewis … so keep an eye out for it.
. COBALT WHISTLES LOOK .

. BACK STAGE EDIT .
The evening itself was so much fun, the John Lewis team were all so lovely and put us all at ease (and got us excited for the shoot … i was so nervous). The clothes featured in the Edit were all seriously up my street … leather pencil skirts, bright pink & cobalt blue colour tones & some great shift dresses and accessories. I wanted to wear looks that were true to me so my 3 looks featured above probably come as no surprise to you all.
If you follow my facebook page, instagram or pinterest you’ll have no doubt noticed loads of back stage pics from the event and shoot including some snaps of me getting my hair and makeup done by the pro’s they hand on hand (which was seriously handy as I had come straight from work). It was a fab event and such a pleasure to be part of an exciting John Lewis campaign. I love the brand & the brands they sell within the fashion department so working on the Edit was a real pleasure. I can’t wait to see the full campaign go live, you can check out the John Lewis Edit page here – it’ll soon feature our looks & a little interview too.
What do you think of the three looks i’ve styled & the pics from the event? Have you checked out the John Lewis Edit?

WANDERFOREST
. REISS 1971 SOUL COAT .
I’ve been feeling a little tired in the last week or so, I think it’s the post Christmas buzz fading & the desperate need for another holiday break (i’m usually away skiing at this time of year, but we’re going in March this year). The worn out feeling is making me crave home a tad, the quiet and relaxed country vibe, my family & time off work. So today’s post, whilst not about home, is an outfit I wore when I was last home which my sister snapped some pics of for me using my new camera (these were the first outfit pics taken with it).. Reiss 1971 Soul Coat . Warehouse Leather Skirt . ASOS Grey Tee . Topshop Clutch . Office Boots . You’re all probably very familiar with my Reiss coat & Topshop clutch by now, but this outfit and day out was also the first time I wore them! I styled them up in what it’s fair to say is my staple kind of outfit. it seems to have become the mediamarmalade uniform … a leather mini, cute ankle boots & a basic tee. It’s an outfit I feel really comfortable in, one that works for work and weekend but also something that still looks relatively in keeping with the sartorial universe of trends.
Do you have staple items of clothing or certain looks which are your ‘uniform’? -
WHISTLE WHILE YOU WORK
. WHISTLES COBALT SWEATER .
How did Monday come around so quickly? The weekend flew by again! On Saturday Jase’s family came to visit us and spend the day in London … we decided to head into Borough market for the afternoon and devour some seriously tasty street food before walking along the Southbank & heading home for a cosy evening in the flat. If you follow me on instagram (you can find me here) you’ll have already seen a few snaps from the day, but today’s post is my outfit from the day.. Whistles Cobalt Sheer Sweater . Topshop Croc Leather Skirt . Zara Patent Moccasins . Topshop Animal Print Clutch .I was lucky enough to get some really amazing SS14 clothes at the John Lewis shoot last week (which I can’t wait to show you all) one of which was this Whistles sweater. This was the first item I saw at the shoot and I instantly fell in love with it, the sweater is a pale blue colour but has a gorgeous cobalt blue chiffon back which gives it a special edge. I styled the jumper this weekend with my navy croc skin skirt which my sister got me for christmas from Topshop. It’s one of my favourite leather skirts as it’s so different and looks fab styled up with a comfy jumper. I finished the outfit with my patent moccasins which are fast becoming my go to shoe. I’ve developed a mild obsession with pointed toe shoes, so these bad boys are ticking all my boxes. -
YSL TOUCHE ECLAT
. YSL BEAUTY REVIEW .
I’m not a beauty blogger by any means but I like to share my favourite products or new things i’m trying out. Much like my Diorific lipstick post earlier in the week (check it out here if you missed it), todays post features another product which Jase bought me for Christmas.
. YSL Touche Eclat Highlighting Pen .For Christmas Jase bought me a bit of a YSL & DIOR haul of beauty and perfume goodies, one of the items he chose me was the YSL Touche Eclat highlighting stick. It’s not an item i’d directly asked for, but something he chose for me given the ton of good reviews (for the cover up / highlighter etc). Not bad at all eh.First of all I have to credit the packaging, I mean holy moly this beauty product was delivered in the style of Royalty … perfectly wrapped in luxurious branded paper then carefully placed in a beautiful YSL box. I know its the product that does the speaking, but the packaging certainly sets the tone. The YSL Touche Eclat highlighting stick isn’t something i’ve tried before, but a product that was definitely a worthwhile addition to my beauty bag. With a bloody demanding job and schedule, a little ‘boost’ for my skin is always welcome as i’m often looking a little tired and stressed. This little stick of magic is great for brightening up my eyes & really gives my face & skin a bit of a glow. I’m still learning how to use it to it’s fullest, at the moment i’ve been using it below my eyes to perk them up, but I’d love to hear your tips and reviews of this if you’ve tried it too?
Are you a fan of YSL’s beauty range? Have you tried any of the Touche Eclat products? -
LET’S TALK ABOUT ‘EGGS’ BABY
EGG MAYO BAGELS & DILL SMOKED SALMON
Brunch is my THANG, if you haven’t realised that by now then you need to read my blog more! Anyway, eggs and salmon in any shape or form is my favourite breakfast concoction … add some avocado or spinach and it’s my idea of heaven. After sharing a new brunch recipe here a few weekends ago, I wanted to share my new speciality which I was inspired to create after visiting a little cafe in Islington a few months back.
This recipe is super easy to make, delicious and great for large numbers as everyone can dig in to brunch without any fancy dinner set up required. So the recipe is simple … bagels (I opt for cinnamon and raison to give the brunch a sweet little side kick), smashed eggs & smoked salmon … finished off with dill & lots of pepper. The reason this brunch is a little different is because of the eggs, for smashed eggs I boil 5 minute eggs (so they’re still a tad runny), peel them & throw them in a bowl with some light mayonnaise and a tiny drop of mustard. Roughly smash them up, and then serve on your bagel. Simple and super tasty. What’s your favourite breakfast recipes? Let me know if you try out my smashed eggs or any other of my breakfast dishes which are featured on the RECIPES page. -
A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
. BODEN BOOTIES .
Following on from my ‘wild thing’ post a few weeks back (if you missed it, you can check it out here) I thought today i’d focus on the booties that bring the wild to the outfit. Animal print shoes certainly add a little punch to an outfit & it’s a really easy way to make an otherwise simple outfit a little edgy.
. Boden Leopard Ankle boots .I styled the boots a while back with my ASOS jacquard dress & missguided fur coat which created a pretty bold look … but these boots are actually a real favourite of mine just to wear with skinny jeans and an oversized cosy knit. They add a feisty kick to a simple look & give you a bit of an adventurous feeling.
Here’s to the weekend … -
THE PASTEL EDIT
. PASTEL MIDI .
Last week I shared the latest Take 10 feature including Bowers & Wilkins, whilst the post was about the headphones you did get a little glimpse of the outfit I was wearing for the occasion, so for today’s post I wanted to share that look in full. It’s a new favourite of mine and features colours I know i’m going to be living in all Spring.Missguided Leather Midi Skirt . ASOS Grey Tee & HOCUS Heels . Reiss 1971 Soul Coat . Topshop Clutch Bag .For me this outfit is all about Spring trends, a leather midi skirt, pastel tones & flushed makeup. I’m not someone who follows and reports on trends, but what I do know is that these are going to be the key things i’m coveting as we stroll into the new season.
This pink pastel midi skirt is a style i’m expecting to see everywhere, I’ve already noticed some gorgeous pastel blue and pink skater versions of the leather midi skirt in Whistles which are just beautiful, I’ve also just picked up a beautiful corral pink scuba style midi skirt from Reiss (I shot this as part of the John Lewis shoot last night so I’ll share pics asap). This skirt is from Missguided so a really affordable way to wear the style.I teamed the skirt with my grey marl ASOS tee which is a top i’ve worn religiously, with everything, since I bought it. and my Hocus heels sandals which I picked up from ASOS in the sale (after lusting after them for months). The final touch was (unsurprisingly) my Reiss coat … swoon, i’m still in the honey moon phase, I don’t think it’ll ever end! What are your favourite trends heading into spring? Are you a fan of the pastel midi skirt trend thats sweeping the high street? -
DIORIFIC
. DIORIFIC IN DIVA.
I thought i’d do a little beauty post today, largely because today’s a rather exciting day for me in that myself and a couple of other bloggers are spending the evening shooting with John Lewis for their up and coming advertising campaign. We’re going to be styling ourselves with garments from their 2014 range (with brands like Reiss, Hobbs, French Connection etc) & then getting our pout on for a full on photo shoot (I am SO nervous).. Diorific in Diva – Winter Special Lipstick .So in prep for my photo shoot tonight which will include a bit of a hair and beauty makeover, I thought I’d share my latest beauty must have which you may have noticed i’ve been wearing in all my outfit posts lately. My Diorific, Winter Special, lipstick, which Jase chose and bought me for Christmas. I don’t wear lipstick every day, I often opt for a benetint stain or coloured lipseal for every day use, but whenever i’m heading out after work or at the weekend lipstick becomes my ultimate beauty staple as I think a bold lip really glams up any makeup look.I always opt for one of two lipsticks for this, either my Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in Colour 38 (La Fascinante) or my new Diorific lippy which I got this Christmas. They’re both a very seductive dark red colour, but this Dior lipstick has a gorgeous pinky undertone which really seems to suit my skin tone. I sometimes find I can look a bit washed out with bold lipstick, but this Diorific shade really seems to compliment my complexion.
What’s your favourite red lipstick? Do you have any tips & tricks for application (i’m still a novice). Which is your favourite lipstick brands?
