    CHORIZO BLACK REPTILE

    . DANIEL FOOTWEAR .

Sports luxe isn’t something i’ve ever been good at, or inclined to try to be good at. I think my shape & instinctive style is too feminine to pull it off, however there’s one trend which edges towards sports luxe which I have been drawn too, and one that i’m keen to give a go. The sports edge loafer.

Whether it be the Celine plaid slip ons which every high end blogger seems to have or a high street leather equivalent which us mere mortals have been sporting, these style of slip on trainers seem to be popular with everyone and totally versatile for styling. Like I said, sports luxe isn’t my ‘thang’ but these shoes definitely are. When I spotted Daniel Footwear had released a reptile version I instantly fell in love. The black and white colour teamed with the reptile texture was a winning combination for me and styled with a skinny pair of leather trousers & an oversized knit i’ll be in ‘slip on’ heaven. Channeling the sports luxe vibe in my own subtle way.
What do you think of the new sports luxe slip on trainer trend? What do you think of my pick from Daniel Footwear?

. MARC JACOBS VALENTINES EDIT .

Happy Valentines you lovely people. I hope you’re all feeling loved & excited for a day of romantic gestures. Valentines isn’t necessarily just about a boyfriend and girlfriend, for me it’s the perfect excuse to show all the people you love just how much they mean to you, friends, family, your colleagues. Jase and I decided to ‘celebrate’ Valentines last night with a delicious meal at Sticks N Sushi in Covent Garden and one too many cocktails at Aisa De Cuba, it was a lovely evening with fab food. Jase and I are both feeling a little worse for wear this morning.
. Second Female Proella Dress . Zara Patent Moccasin & Shearling Gilet . Marc Jacobs Valentine Limited Ed Sunglasses .
You may remember on Sunday’s post I featured my new Marc Jacobs Valentines glasses (if you missed it, you’ll find it here) and for today I thought i’d show you the beauts in action. This was an outfit I wore last weekend while pottering around in Bath. I decided to wear my second female leather dress & patent loafers, finishing the look with my Zara gilet & tartan scarf. The Marc Jacobs sunnies went perfectly with the tartan scarf & added a little more colour to my otherwise all black outfit.
What will you be doing to celebrate Valentines day this year? What do you think of my love heart inspired outfit?

    THE CONNECTION

. LEATHER MINI & GREY MARL SWEATER .

So I know Valentines is officially tomorrow but Jase and I are bucking the trend and celebrating tonight instead. The hustle and bustle of London tomorrow night doesn’t sound too appealing for a cosy romantic dinner and we’re heading home to my family this weekend so want to go back Friday to make the most of our time. So tonight is officially my Valentines. We’re heading for cocktails in Covent Garden (The ME hotel) followed by a dinner in Sticks N Sushi which Rosie so highly recommended.
    . H&M Real Leather Skirt £60 . French Connection Sweater £20 (sale) . Mulberry Holly Bag . Zara Moccasin £79.99 .

As a working girl there’s no time for fancy dresses or blow dries, I’ll be heading to meet jase straight from work, so that means I need a good transitional outfit that can take me from work to dinner looking suitably smart but also glam. Cue my staple outfit … leather mini & a cosy sweater. This for me is the perfect transitional look. Add a splash of lippy, some volume to my hair, a few more lashings of mascara and i’m ready for date night.
What will you be doing to celebrate Valentines night? Do you approve of my relatively low key Valentines outfit?

  • COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY

    COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY

    . SPRING PINKS .

Today’s post isn’t a full outfit post, but more a post about a colour. The colour pink in fact. You may have noticed that I’ve been sporting a lot of pink lately, whether that be bright pinks (for example my Reiss coat featured above), rouge pink lips & even pastel pinks in my new skirts. It’s a colour I don’t deliberately seek out, but one that I end up wearing a lot of the time almost by coincidence. It’s one of those colours i’m instantly drawn to & feel confident and happy wearing. Clearly many a theorist has written about the psychological impacts of colour, and I have to say, I generally agree. Whilst black and white is chic as hell (cue my attempt at an all black look in yesterdays post – Black on Black) there’s nothing like a bit of colour to boost your mood & bring a little smile to your face. For that reason i’m taking today to appreciate pink & am getting excited about all the colours i’m going to be featuring in my wardrobe this Spring (I have a feeling duck egg blue could be appearing a lot).
What’s your favourite colour to wear? Do you prefer monochrome looks or are you like me and are drawn to colourful garments.

    BLACK ON BLACK

    . BLACK SUEDE & SHEARLING GILET .

Sometimes when I least plan on finding an outfit I really love, I throw on something that just happens to tick all my boxes. This really simple all black outfit is one of those & something I threw on to wear to work last week. When all the items came together, it created a laid back all black look which I actually really loved.
. Missguided Black Swing Dress . Zara Shearling Gilet & Patent Moccasins . Tartan Scarf . Topshop Print Bag .

The main item in this look is my simple black t-shirt swing dress which I picked up from Missguided at a bargain cost of about £16. It’s a really plain black dress but great for work if it’s teamed with a smart jacket. The main pieces which make this look are my Zara shearling gilet & my woolen tartan scarf which I seem to live in. Finished with my patent moccasins from Zara which really work well to make this outfit a tad more chic and smart.  It’s a ‘nothing special’ outfit, but one that is a go to style for me for everyday wear.

What do you think of the all black look? Are you a fan of this simple styling?

    ANOTHER STORY

. SNOW LEOPARD FUR COAT .

I spend my life admiring people in leopard print coats, there’s something so overtly glamorous and chic about a quality leopard print fur coat & I love the look. Whether it be a typical leopard colour palette or a darker or lighter tone, I love the style & how it transforms a look. It reminds me of Edie Sedwick who’s one of my ultimate style inspirations.

. Topshop Snow Leopard Coat (old) . Apprise Chelsea Boots .
Whilst i’ve spent the last 6 months admiring the variety of coats being debude by my favourite bloggers and celeb inspirations, I forgot about this little gem of a fur coat that was tucked away in the back of my wardrobe. A Topshop coat I picked up over 2 years ago in the sale after Christmas. I’ve probably not worn it in over a year, but after rediscovering it at the back of my coat wardrobe i’ve totally fallen in love again. The great thing about it being so old is that it’s unlikely i’ll bump into anyone in the same coat any time soon.
I kept my outfit very simple (as forced to by Jase) as the coat does the speaking, I teamed it with some jodhpur leggings (again seriously old) and my new Apprise chelsea boots which I blogged about here. I’m seriously loving these boots and now in the process of trying to find different ways to style them, they’re quite tricky due to the height (can give you dumpy legs) but i’m keen to give it a go.

Are you a fan of print fur coats? What do you think of this snow leopard print? How would you style these chelsea boots?

    MARC JACOBS VALENTINES

. MARC BY MARC JACOBS LIMITED EDITION .

It’s fast approaching that time of year again, Valentines. Much like marmite most people love it or hate it, me myself I love it. It’s the perfect excuse to spend some quality time with your loved ones (whether that be a boyfriend, friends or even your family) and take the opportunity to tell them how much they mean to you. It’s not about showy & over the top declarations of love with presents and flowers (although, who would say no) but more about the little meaningful touches. Jase is great at Valentines, we always plan a little dinner date (this year we’re going to do afternoon tea at LainstonHouse) but he always surprises me with a cute, very well thought out & meaningful gift. Last year he have me a framed picture of us in NYC & a box full of all my favourite things (picNmix, bloody mary kit, matchsticks & a movie). It meant so much as he’d taken so much thought to create the perfect present.
    . Marc by by Marc Jacobs 2014 Valentine’s Limited Edition Sunglasses £120 ℅ .
As a fashion fan, one of my other favourite things about Valentines day is seeing all the pink, red, heart themed outfits & accessories. Feminine cuts and colours make the perfect Valentines look & there’s nothing like taking the opportunity to get glammed up for the occasion. I myself tend to keep things pretty classic, not wearing too many love or heart themed items, sticking to a more simple LBD or chick leather trouser styled look. But this year i’ll be adding a little Valentines spirit into my look with these awesome Marc by by Marc Jacobs 2014 Valentine’s limited edition sunglasses. Swoon. How perfect are they.
The heart decorated sunnies are £120 so not too far fetched for any doting boyfriends wanting to splash out on a special treat for their girlfriends, or for any Marc Jacobs fans who like me, just think these are totally awesome and want them regardless of Valentines day. These are absolutely going to be my sunnies of choice this spring – summer, they’re a perfect fit on my face & I love the square shape 80’s inspired lens, not mentioning the piece de resistance which is the bold, printed arms. They also come in some cute heart printed packaging which is always a winner.
How will you be celebrating Valentines this year? What do you think of these gorgeous Valentines Marc Jacobs sunnies?
  • A SIMPLE BRUNCH

    A SIMPLE BRUNCH

    . SMOKED SALMON EGGS & GREENS .

One day I’ll stop being an egg obsessive, but for now, I have another egg themed brunch dish for you. Every Saturday and Sunday Jase and I spend our mornings whipping up a tasty brunch or trying out new brunch hot spots in London (and the West if we’re heading out of town to one of our homes). Whilst my favourite brunch’s always gravitate to eggs, I like to mix up how I cook them or what I serve them with to keep things fresh. Today i’m sharing salmon scrambled eggs & fresh asparagus.

Mixing smoked salmon into scrambled eggs whilst cooking is my new favourite way to cook eggs. It’s a technique I picked up about 3 years ago when the Covent Garden Hotel served me up a smoked salmon & caper scrambled egg dish all mixed together. It’s not something that sounds inticing I appreciate, but it truly has to be the most tasty way to serve salmon and eggs. The smoked salmon flavour infuses the eggs & the eggs partly cook the salmon creative a delicious flavour. I always like to add a little something extra to my dish (call it greed) and opted for salt and pepper steamed asparagus for this brunch dish (spinach or grilled cherrie toms work equally as well).  It’s light, healthy and unbelievably tasty.
Whats your favourite brunch recipe, you can check out all my breakfast recipes here. Let me know if you give this one a go.

    . ASOS APPRISE BOOTS .

Ever since my discovery of the Acne Free Leather Chelsea boots, all thanks to Danielle Bernstein, I’ve spent countless hours browsing the web, London & blogs in search of them. Sadly, I caught on to the patent pointed chelsea boot rather late & every Acne stockist in the UK and abroad seemed to have sold out of the beauts (you can see them here). Following that fail, I decided to search high and low for a dupe … when I set my heart to something come rain or shine, i’ll bloody well find them.

After 4 full weeks of searching, daily, I resided to the fact I wasn’t going to find the perfect replica for any less than £400 (god there were some amazing Saint Lauren ones for £650 though), I could only find patent or pointed & most tended to edge towards a more standard ankle boot opposed to the classic chelsea boot design. After going in every shop you could imagine, I decided the Kurt Geiger had the best selection of boots which were the closes to what I was looking for, I had seen this pair of Apprise boots on ASOS, but sadly totally out of stock. I picked the pair I was going to buy (patent serpent boots from KG) and went online to order …. at that moment I thought i’d do one final check (as 24 days worth wasn’t quite enough) and that’s when these Apprise boots, the closest thing to the Acne boot, popped up as available …. in my size (AND IN THE SALE).  Without a second thought I bought them, and voila, here we are, united through fate & excited for our future love affair to commence.
Dramatic perhaps, but that truly is how obsessive I get when I find something I want. And hey look, it paid off …
