A wardrobe staple that works for every season … the Midi.
The midi skirt is a garment that over the last 12 months I’ve engrossed myself in a sordid love affair with. Okay, not quite sordid. But a love affair for sure. It’s a cut I historically despised, frumpy & for grandmas, but throughout the last few seasons it’s ended up forming a staple part of my wardrobe (you may have witnessed my original confession here), for Winter, Spring, & summer, and now into Autumn too. I have a few to my name, but my most worn and relied on midi skirt is this Whistles denim version (in the sale right now in fact) which I picked up earlier this year.
Typically I’ve styled the skirt with casual tees & converse for weekends, with a silky cami & heels for an evening out.
But now as the weather begins to change & I want to feel a little cosier, with a knitted sweater & a classic pair of pumps. Probably my one and only attempt at sports luxe. For me the cut is so versatile, it’s a wardrobe staple that works for every season.

Dressing for work in a transitional period is often the trickiest. And whilst layers become a life saviour, there’s still that balance between summer favourites (and baring a little skin) to wrapping up like we’re about to hit a snow storm (us British love to dress like we live in Norway as soon as the weather drops). For me this kinda laid back, yet still feminine and chic look becomes the go to everyday work wear outfit. Despite the casual nature of the sweater, the sophisticated (Chanel dupe) pumps (which set me back a mere £30) really do all the heavy lifting making this outfit work wear appropriate. And most of all, my legs get to see a little more day light before they’re swaddled away in my brand new Stuart Weitzman highland boots & one of my many pairs of (far too tight right now) jeans. Long live the summer.
Are you a midi fan lover or hater? You can’t deny the midi makes a great transitional piece though right?

I agree. Midi skirts are all year round choice. They go prefect with sandals and also they are prefect with boots. So gorgeous.
