HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR BLOG SCHEDULE EVEN WHEN IT’S RAINING
In any normal circumstance this Easter weekend would provide the perfect opportunity to get ahead with your blog and your content schedule (in particular shooting imagery), however with a forecast in the UK of rain, rain and a bit more rain, the usual routine of getting out and about to shoot outfit & lifestyle photos is pretty much written off.
But fear not, even with a forecast of 4 days of rain there’s still ways to progress and develop your blog schedule and content calendar. So today I thought I’d share a few ‘rain proof’ ways to develop your blog content and maintain your blog schedule even when it’s raining.
Focus on editorial ideas
Just because you’re not able to get out and shoot outfit’s or features in the sunshine, it doesn’t mean you cant use the Easter holiday to get ahead with your blog schedule. Rather than spend the time outside working on your imagery, use the time inside to focus on developing editorial ideas and draft features for up coming posts. You can still use the time productively, you just need to adjust your plans a little.
Learn to shoot indoors
Typically a lot of us bloggers prefer to shoot outdoors, ideally in perfect sunlight with well lit locations and beautiful back drops, it’s not always possible, especially when it’s raining out and the usually beautiful streets are covered in water and shadowed by grey skies. But actually shooting outside isn’t the only option, finding a well lit room inside, whether that’s in a well lit room in your house, or a cafe or building local to your home is the ideal alternative, and often the imagery can be far more interesting and creative than a standard shoot. Taking some shots in your local cafe is a really easy way of still shooting imagery when the weather isn’t perfect, you just need to know how to use your camera to adjust to the settings is all.
Work on your strategy
Much like working on your editorial and drafting features, actually using the time to work on your blog strategy and business plan is also a brilliant way of getting ahead over the easter holiday, despite the rainy weather disrupting your photo shoot opportunities. Focus on reviewing how your blog is performing, and updating your business plan and schedule based on what you’ve learnt.
Embrace the rain
And finally, don’t forget that actually embracing the rain is actually an opportunity in itself, mood lighting, dark corners, fun shots with rain pouring down, the rain is as much as an opportunity for creativity and beautiful shots as the sun is. Really needed this today! Didn’t make the most of the sunlight yesterday and feeling worried about how I’m going to produce content over this weekend :(
But this post has cheered me up a bit! Need to remember that I don’t leave in L.A and need to start embracing the English weather!
