Celebrations in Fitzrovia: The Sanderson & Hakkasan
If you’re in the market for a celebration, then I have just the post for you. Last weekend I celebrated my 28th birthday, and one of my birthday celebrations included a lovely trip to Fitzrovia for a rather splendid Dim Sum Sunday at Hakassan and some warm up cocktails at the Sanderson before hand.
The sun was out, the drinks were delicious and the food absolutely to die for …
FITZROVIA DRINK: THE SANDERSON
The Sanderson: Mad Hatters Tea Party & Long Bar
The Sanderson is one of London’s famous hotels, located just up the road from the Edition Hotel & Berners Tavern, The Sanderson is like an exciting, playful, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory esque world hidden behind a 50’s style entrance. What i’m saying is, from the outside the Sanderson isn’t much, but on the inside it’s a whole other world. Whether you want to book yourself into the Mad Hatters Tea party (their own take on afternoon tea – and boy is it good), or simply enjoy a few drinks at the bar before your lunch date (as we did), The Sanderson is most definitely worth a visit and truly a gem in Fitzrovia.

FITZROVIA EAT: HAKKASAN
Hakkasan: Dim Sum Sunday
If you’re a fan of Chinese food (or I should say Cantonese) then Hakkasan must be added to your ‘must visit’ foodie list. It’s one of my favourite restaurants in London (The Hanway Place restaurant being the original), serving unbelievably delicious Cantonese food (think dim sum, peking duck, wagyu beed etc), not to mention totally atmospheric. Hakkasan comes at a price, but if you’re looking for a special treat then I couldn’t recommend the Dim Sum Sunday experience enough … cocktails on arrival, a magnum of fizz for the table, a whole tasting menu of Hakkasan specialities at their best, followed by desert and a tipple to finish things off … the food, the experience and the drinks make it the perfect Sunday brunch destination and well worth the £58 a head.
