HAPPY WEEKEND
This Weeks Curated News Feed
What better time of the week than to sit and lap up your favourite content than on the weekend right? It’s one of my favourite weekend rituals, to sit in my local coffee shop or even my bed and simply consume. Often during the week i’ll scan through my favourite reads, or pick up some new mags, but the weekend is the time I really get to sit and enjoy it all.
We all know that theres enough content online to spend the rest of your life trying to get through, and that’s where a filter can come in a handy, editing and curating the best bits for you to check out, so you don’t have to sit and wade through the ocean of content out there.
Well today I’m your filter.
I’ve been absolutely loving seeing people sharing other bloggers content recently, i personally have had my own content (especially this post and this post) shared within other peoples edits, and so it’s something I wanted to do too. Share the love and hopefully help you discover something new. So without further ado … my reading list awaits.
FIVE THINGS TO ‘CONSUME’ THIS WEEKEND
The Curated News Feed
–
THE HIGH LOW PODCAST
40 minute episodes, perfect back to back
–
I’m sure you’re all very well aware of the High Low Podcast already, but just in case you’re not, in my opinion Dolly and Pandora have created the ultimate woman’s podcast, discussing (you’ve guest it) the high and the low of news, culture and fashion. Their conversational style, background in journalism, and general ‘every girl’ vibe makes this weekly podcast relatable, informative and not to mention amusing. I particularly enjoyed Theresa May & Vogue and the Legsit podcasts, but if you haven’t yet listened I recommend listening to them all! The latest one is available here.

SUITCASE MAG ISSUE 18
A 30 minute indulgence
–
After meeting Tona, Suitcase Mags Fashion Editor at an industry breakfast a few weeks ago, I promised myself to pick up some issues of Suitcase Mag as the proposition seemed very much up my street. I used to consume so many mags back in my early 20’s but these days often don’t really find the perfect mix of what I’m looking for and that’s why I consume a lot of content online … but Suitcase Mag may have just changed things for good. Travel, Book Recommendations (curated based on that issues travel focus), Fashion & Seasonal Wardrobe Edits. This mag covers the things I’m passionate about and does so in the most beautiful editorial way, from the photography to the paper quality, this mag is one of those you’ll start collecting as soon as you’ve picked up your first copy. Issues 14 and 18 are the two i’m currently working through, and issue 14’s focus on Marakesh has got me wanting to book a trip asap!

BRITISH VOGUE YOUTUBE
5 or 50 minutes, at your own risk
–
So I’m probably exceptionally late to the game here, but last weekend I found myself in a Vogue Rabbit Hole consuming back to back all their fashion, wardrobe insider and ritual reveal youtube videos. Despite the Vogue and Influencer tensions, they’ve fully embraced the world of influencer on their youtube channels, from features with Leandre Medine and Louise Roe to special features with Alexa Chung. They’re short, snappy and surprisingly entertaining. Also if you haven’t read their editorial on influencers then thats a must too.
On a slightly different tangent, it’s not often I actually watch Youtube, but without fail it’s the Michelak’s you want to watch if you’re looking for something to view. These guys are absolute professionals and their content a thing of beauty! Highly recommend checking out their weekly videos.

MASHA SEDGWICK ON COACHELLA
5 Minute Reality Check
–
I only discovered Masha’s blog this year, and it was one of those joyous moments when you discover something you absolutely love and want to subscribe to immediately on every channel possible. I’m not sure what I love most about Masha’s blog, her photography which is editorial perfection, her unique and beautiful blog design and layouts, or her honest and transparent editorials. Regardless, her post on why she’s done with Coachella was a brilliant read and came at the most perfect time. She deals the reality of what it’s actually like … no Instagram filter needed!

A PAIR & A SPARE, ROPES OF HOLLAND & ME & ORLA
5-10 minute reads
–
Okay so this is cheating, but truthfully I read so many blogs that It is hard to narrow things down, but there are two posts I’ve read recently on A Pair & A Spare by Geneva which I’ve really enjoyed. Firstly her post all about taking a creative retreat, Geneva’s blog is a true creatives and so I really enjoyed hearing about how she’s fuelling inspiration and creativity through travel journalling. Its something I used to do a lot when I was younger but something that seemed to stop as I grew up and blogging took over. I love the idea of getting back into it. The other post I loved was the alternative take on blogging tips, where she shared her tips on having the worst blog ever … the perfect sense check to make sure you’re not slipping into any bad habits.
And finally, I found Lindseys post on her blemish fighting skincare routine super interesting as adult spots is something I too have found myself fighting and if you’ve been following the instagram-bot-gate amongst the blogging industry then you must read this. A post I discovered through Me & Orla (who also has some fab posts on Instagram by the way) and one that’s truly eye opening. It’s disheartening to see how people have been playing the instagram game in this honest account (i’ve talked about the issues here too) but certainly opens your eyes to the issues the instagram industry is facing. As for me, i may have a small account, but at least I know it’s all real!
BONUS EDIT

THE DEMISE OF INSTAGRAM & THE RISE OF MICRO BLOGGERS: THE BLOGGING INDUSTRY IS CHANGING BUT IT COULD BE A HUGE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR BLOGGING BUSINESS
10 -15 minute read
–
This post is a follow up to an edit I wrote one year ago on the importance of owned channels for your blogging business and the future for micro bloggers and addresses the issues we’re facing in 2017 regarding fake instagram accounts and the apparent move to instagram over long form blog content, but the seeming shift we’re likely to see as brands become more aware, more budget savvy and the opportunities this brings (back) to bloggers! I hope you enjoy it.

TRAVEL GUIDE: HOW TO SPEND TWO WEEKS IN THAILAND
5 minutes of wonderlust
–
I couldn’t decide for my last feature whether to pull out my Thailand Travel Guide or my best photography tutorial, both relatively old features but both features that still pull in lots of readers. But after feeling all travel wanderlust-y after getting stuck into Suitcase Mag I thought a little Thailand reminiscing would ease the soul. If you haven’t already seen my Asian travel edits then come and get lost here, or if you want the one stop shop, see my guide to traveling Thailand.
So there you have it, my favourite reads of the moment and three of the mediamarmalade.com popular posts. I hope you enjoy discovering these great pieces of content as much as I did, and I’d just love you to share some of your favourite reads int he comments.
